Fixing Social Security, Medicare will prove government's ...

Wow! Really! And here I thought you GOP wackos complained about everything. Conservatives kicked and screamed when FDR enacted Social Security. Ditto for Environmental Regulation, Voting rights for women and Medicare. The program is fixable. You listed several ideas yourself so what is the problem here? Instead of taking a proactive viewpoint on anything, all you do is shriek "Government bad!"...until a bunch of incompetent Wall Streeters get into trouble then magically, government is their best friend. The government should serve EVERYONE not just the rich people in this country. Social Security isn't going anywhere--it's too popular and successful. Now the Republican Party - that's going down the drain.  (Aug 9, 2009 | post #19)

Charlie Dent - Health care too important to get wrong

Unless you want an abortion. Or you want assisted suicide. Then the Conserative Crazies are all over you. Hey, Gary! I couldn't get an x-ray until my INSURANCE COMPANY approved it. If health care is supposed to be between me and my doctor, why is that okay?  (Aug 9, 2009 | post #87)

Charlie Dent - Health care too important to get wrong

Funny, when war was on the table Charlie and his GOP posse couldn't rush into it fast enough. But when the topic is health care "we shouldn't rush" even though we've been debating the subject for over 70 years. Republicans - Protecting the status quo and industry profits.  (Aug 9, 2009 | post #86)

Waitress serves up story of flawed health care system

You mean like when the government tells who you can love or marry? You mean like when the government tells you what you can do with your body: abortion, suicide, etc.? At least the liberals let me make my own decisions on those issues.  (Aug 8, 2009 | post #99)

Think about it

So when that pre-born child grows up and gets pregnant, you support her right to have an abortion?  (Aug 8, 2009 | post #10)

Fixing Social Security, Medicare will prove government's ...

So you don't need the government, Dan? Then prove it. Take your kids out of the public schools, no more using the libraries, state parks or sports fields, put in your own roads and bridges, do your own health inspections of the restaurants where they eat and never, ever accept Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, or Unemployment. I find it strange that the GOPers complain about Social Security but you don't see many people refusing to cash those checks.  (Aug 8, 2009 | post #14)

What Dent supports when he votes 'no'

Yeah, right. Got a section of the Health Care Bill you can cite to back that up? You're the party of Swiftboaters, Weapons of Mass Destruction, Abortions cause breast cancer and Obama is a Kenyan Manchurian Candidate. Go sell your swill to the GOP mob. I'm not buying.  (Aug 8, 2009 | post #25)

Prayers are welcome, scientific or not

I only have problems when churches, or church leaders rather, go poking their noses into politics, trying to force their views onto the general populace through legislation. Other than that, I think most churches are a good thing with the exception of those polygamy cults which are little more than setups for child predators.  (Aug 8, 2009 | post #40)

Health care system is getting worse

The GI Bill. The Rural Electification Project. The Polio Vaccination Program. Public Libraries. The U.S. Post office. The U.S. Military. NASA. The National Parks System. The Highway System. The Transportation Saftely Board. And this is a short list. Personally, I think these are great programs.  (Aug 8, 2009 | post #35)

Americans deserve a single-payer system

Put up or shut up, you misnamed troll! Post the section of the Health Care bill that advocates for Eugenic policies and no, payment for people to file living wills is not Eugenics.  (Aug 8, 2009 | post #35)

What Dent supports when he votes 'no'

On the other hand, Conservatives are going to town hall meetings to shout down government health care all while shrieking "Keep away from my Medicare". Sorry, honey, but your side owns crazy what with C Street Adulterers, Birthers and Sarah Palin.  (Aug 8, 2009 | post #13)

Waitress serves up story of flawed health care system

In the 1970s, China had to institute food rashioning because they could not adequately feed their people. The Chinese are not stupid. Between 108 B.C. and 1910, that country reported 1828 famines - nearly one a year. Were they just supposed to ignore these problems? I'm not crazy about their population controls either but at least they faced the problem head on. It would be nice if they could have just asked their citizens to do the right thing and limit their family numbers but not many people do the right thing. Look at how many Americans buy gas guzzling cars for example. Or smoke. Sometimes the government has to put controls on a personal behavior to ensure the health of the society as a whole.  (Aug 8, 2009 | post #96)

Your View - Deporting illegals is not always easy

Oh isn't that rich...a lecture on facts from one of the idiots that believed Iraq had Weapons of Mass Destruction...and that Iraq could pay for their own construction with oil revenue...and that it was acceptable to fund the war with loans from China...and that we would be greeted as liberators. I could go on, Staberdeath. It's not hard.  (Aug 8, 2009 | post #54)

The Cash for Clunkers program is the one part of the stimulus package that directly benefits the working man and Charlie Dent voted against it...while voting for arrogant, incompetent Wall Street Barons to keep their obscene bonuses. Yeah, Charlie's a real advocate for the comman man...NOT!  (Aug 8, 2009 | post #8)

Fixing Social Security, Medicare will prove government's ...

Social Security is broken? That's weird, my 95 year old father is still getting his checks. And I got my annual statement, just like clockwork, with estimates of what payouts I can expect when I retire. Social Security works fine and is currently solvent. There is a looming problem coming when the baby boomers retire, but it's fixable as long as it's addressed. So what is this writer talking about besides fear and misinformation? In case this nitwit missed it, AIG and Bear Sterns and the rest of the Wall Street idiots had to be bailed out last year. Just because something is private it does not mean it is run correctly.  (Aug 8, 2009 | post #4)
