How CVS will acquire Walgreens in a buyout.

you don't get breaks if no one else can do your job. Think gas stations. if you overlap even a half hour with someone else in "leadership " they were required to make you take lunch. Keep notes. Blackmail them when you need to.  (Jun 14, 2012 | post #26)

What do we know about "new labor model"?

They expect a certain number of mgt's will sue and win. Get severance and unemployment. You can choose to be one.  (Jun 14, 2012 | post #13)

Local soldier says he was bilked out of more than $25,000...

He got the money back a few days after this story got picked up by large internet sites. It was because it wasz debit run as credit. No protection on debit cards. The bar in Greece charged it to his card over several transactions in the days after he left. BOA aknowledged it was fraud but said it was between him and the bar. When it is their money, as in credit, they care. When it's your own money in your account the could care less.  (May 18, 2012 | post #13)

Wktv spun us as anti local businesses after we actively told people to support local biz on black Friday and pitching the local coffee shops for this event (given the weather almost everyone showed up cup in hand.) we had ten people at the mvcp rally this week. If we had exsisted when the corrections layoffs happened we would have been standing with you. For all I know some of us were, most of us didn't know eachother before last fall and we don't often socialize outside of the hard work of keeping a group going in a city this size.  (May 1, 2012 | post #38)

He didn't say that and he's in his mid thirties and about to close on his first house, but whatever. If you heard a low number they were probably talking about Utica. Peaked at about 50 around 5:30. At three it would have been the folks setting up. Who are generally the same people who camped and put hundreds of hours into this over the winter. Attending council meetings, meeting with eachother. Fighting bank of America on behalf of an Afghanistan vet and since October hosting (4 people divide up the week) an internet radio show, now syndicated in California on an over the air station 7 days a week. All while balancing work and family. Turn off fox news, step away from trolling anonymously and get out and work for your country if you care so much. Or even just get a hobby. An active life is a happy life.  (May 1, 2012 | post #37)

May Day protests nationwide, as well as in Utica

Schumer and state officials as well as the city council and county legislature are fair game. We spend most of our time addressing them. Today is a big national day, The Cispa vote just happened and Hanna's office is right near where we were cleaning up the area ahead of the main rally at three anyway.  (May 1, 2012 | post #13)

I travel to the city occasionally and stop by Wall St. When I do. I wish I could get to Washington but it's just not in the cards.  (May 1, 2012 | post #6)

Because we have jobs and kids. Hanna voted for cispa and NDAA is the main thing. I voted for him actually. The rally their was tacked on a couple days ago because of the cispa vote. Just happens to coincide with May Day.  (May 1, 2012 | post #5)

The only reason you believe what you do is because millions were spent to frame occupy as the anti tea party. The system, Dems and Repubs were scared of the tea party joining occupy finding what we as Americans could agree on and demanding it as is still happening around the world. I think the demand would have been an overturning of the citizens united decision. It is the most consistant demand of the movement. Was even proposed as being the one demand before people started on Wall St. last fall. Consensus model kind of takes really radical ideas off the table. Local occupies reflect local poulations Ithaca will be more left wing than Iowa. We are all Americans. When we turn off the propaganda and sit down and talk we'll have them running scared. I don't thinl unions should be able to contribute to campaigns any more than corporations. Individuals only.  (May 1, 2012 | post #22)

Defining occupy as socialist just makes you sound like a parrot. you are probably more likely to meet someone supporting Ron Paul as an avowed socialist. There certainly are some true socialists, and a lot of people you'd call socialist that would be considered right wing in Europe. Occupy uses an anarchist consensus model which allows people to focus on what they can agree on. the redult is very American a call to protect our freedoms and demand that government at all levels be efficient effective, transparent and a responsive outgrowth of the people it is supposed to represent.  (May 1, 2012 | post #21)

I'm at work unfortunatel, I'll make the rally tonight but I wish I could be at Hanna's office at ten to protest his stripping the constitution with his votes on CISPA and the NDAA. I vpted for him. I paid off my student loans. I pay propertytaxes in Utica. I am staring down a layoff at work so they can replace my $19 an hour salary job with somrone making $11. no I'm not in a union. This is after accepting a 17% pay cut in 2008 that had me making less than when I started 6 years ago. My daughter is facing half day kindergarten and a school system without the extracuriculars she will need to get into a good college. Because primarily our government is beholden to special interests corporate and not. She faces a haggard America caused primarily by the state capitalism we've allowed to march in in the last forty years posing as free market. giving the poor healthcare and eic is corporate welfare. Systems designed to keep wages and costs down for employers who actively encourage full time employees to get on medicaid. I'm for public hralthcare, it's the only reasonable model economically but given our employer driven system the state shouldn't need to be covering the gap for two worker households. Take the money out of politics and the state and real free market will correct the problem.  (May 1, 2012 | post #18)

Saying occupiers are slackers and occupy is about demanding government hand outs is no more valid then saying teapartiers don't know how to spell. When we realize we share common goals and a common enemy in bought out government real change will be made. One thing occupy has instinctively known to avoid is cooption by front groups of the democrats. We learned that lesson from the tea party experience of being absorbed by msm and the campaign wing of the republicans ultimately frustrating a lot of people and leading to a drop in numbers and power.  (Apr 30, 2012 | post #15)
