Paul Ryan promises hate group that he'll fight equality

You do nothing but dodge questions. Could a gay couple who married in DC be charged with the crime of being married if they moved to VA and lived as spouses? Can you show us one example of someone being charged with a crime in relation to marrying someone of the same sex, anywhere in the USA, ever? What is the definition of illegal? adj. 1. Prohibited by law. 2. Prohibited by official rules: an illegal pass in football. 3. Unacceptable to or not performable by a computer: an illegal operation. http://www.thefree dictionary.com/_/d ict.aspx?word=ille gal adjective contrary to or forbidden by law, especially criminal law: illegal drugs http://oxforddicti onaries.com/defini tion/english/illeg al If there isn't a law against it, it isn't illegal.  (Nov 21, 2012 | post #4055)

"What about therapy intended to change sexual orientation from gay to straight? All major national mental health organizations have officially expressed concerns about therapies promoted to modify sexual orientation. To date, there has been no scientifically adequate research to show that therapy aimed at changing sexual orientation (sometimes called reparative or conversion therapy) is safe or effective. Furthermore, it seems likely that the promotion of change therapies reinforces stereotypes and contributes to a negative climate for lesbian, gay, and bisexual persons. This appears to be especially likely for lesbian, gay, and bisexual individuals who grow up in more conservative religious settings. Helpful responses of a therapist treating an individual who is troubled about her or his same-sex attractions include helping that person actively cope with social prejudices against homosexuality, successfully resolve issues associated with and resulting from internal conflicts, and actively lead a happy and satisfying life. Mental health professional organizations call on their members to respect a person’s (client’s) right to self-determination ; be sensitive to the client’s race, culture, ethnicity, age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic status, language, and disability status when working with that client; and eliminate biases based on these factors." I can make up my own religion in two seconds and "marry" a speck of dust in my home. It's still a marriage, just not according to the government. Are the cops going to break down my door and charge me with performing or taking part in an unauthorized marriage? The law doesn't exist. I.e. not illegal. I can build a shack on my property but the government doesn't recognize it as a home unless I apply for a permit or subdivide my property. They will never come and burn down the shack.  (Nov 20, 2012 | post #4020)

Analysts: Gay marriage OK remains unlikely in Pa.

Go ahead, call me a nitwit. It takes attention away from the fact that you don't know what a comma is, or when a sentence should end. Really. Federal Constitution trumps State constitution. Always. It isn't a matter of disagreement. I can respect your opinion, and we can agree to disagree. I was referring to proven, inalienable fact. No opinion involved. You can have your beliefs and eat them too. Regardless of your beliefs, the fact remains that by denying marriage to same sex couples, over 1000 federal rights are being denied to otherwise contributing members of society.  (Nov 20, 2012 | post #23)

You're an idiot, hun. For starters, they are backed by the American Psychiatric Association, Mental Health America, the American Academy for Pediatrics, and the World Health Organization. Second, the Rind study, which I assume you're referring to, was not intended to advocate child sexual abuse. The APA released a press statement about it, labeling CSA morally wrong and harmful in the vast majority of cases. The Rind study's findings were this: Child sexual abuse happens. Some people get over it better than others, depending on the circumstances. And thirdly, the removal of homosexuality from the DSM was a COMPLETELY different process than the Rind study. It was removed by a majority ballot of the scientists of the APA by 58%. It is a decision that was backed by the other APA, MHA, and the WHO.  (Nov 20, 2012 | post #18)

Yea, facts are quite clear. History is a non-point. Used to be that everyone thought the earth was flat and the sun revolved around us, and if you said any different you were burned as a heretic. Galileo famously shelved his discovery of the earth revolving around the sun for this reason. Facts, however, are quite clear. The constitution guarantees equal protection under the law. That is a fact. Civil marriage levies 1138 federal rights and responsibilities. Civil unions levy 171. That is a fact. Does that sound "equal" to you?  (Nov 20, 2012 | post #21)

So you are okay with forcing your beliefs on people but not okay for them to force theirs on you.....LOL" Fighting for freedom and equality is not pushing your beliefs. It's the respect any American is guaranteed by the Constitution. Get it now?  (Nov 20, 2012 | post #19)

You're an idiot. Now, because you are an idiot, should the government force you to move across the country, uproot your family, find new housing and a new job, essentially start a new life so that you can get access to basic rights like benefits coverage and visitation rights? No. That would be discriminatory. Equal protection for all, even idiots. It's in the constitution.  (Nov 20, 2012 | post #17)

So, What Is It That The Anti-Gay Groups Actually Fear?

Apparently sex is only harmful and immoral if it occurs between two men, regardless of any other circumstances, and regardless of what the nations leading medical associations have to say about it. Wake up, Chimera.  (Nov 19, 2012 | post #11901)
