Welcome-----duh ARTIST--->>>TREE !!!!!!!!

Grace is a thing we all could certainly use more of in quantity! A warm hello in return Grace! Ironically, earlier today I was discussing that very same Kilmer poem, as well as others, with my husband. The topic of poetry was raised briefly on the radio in regards to Langston Hughes, and that set us off. I'd also mentioned Hughes "Mother to Son" -- one of my favs. I may have to join you in the poetry realm sometime. :) BTW, part of my family is from Ireland -- very cool!  (Oct 13, 2008 | post #23)

omens of dead animals

First, and right away, have the air quality tested where the birds are kept. This is a different type of situation than an omen, I think. Have other species of pets died in the house too? Look to the time of year the birds died and where the cage is placed to be very sure there is not anything that could also make the children sick, as finch are very susceptible to environmental risks. Then, again before reaching to a super or ultra-natural explanation it might be a good idea to be sure there are no persons in the house who would wish the birds harm; either through dislike or jealousy. This is not a typical totem or animal omen situation. What it means is that there is some sort of problem somewhere, and I sure do wish everyone involved good luck.  (Oct 12, 2008 | post #17)

Welcome-----duh ARTIST--->>>TREE !!!!!!!!

Put some gum in your mouth and chew. Then use the goo to get to your lovin' pills. Think of the motion of chewing as a warm-up! OH! And no, I'm not shy, just slow to get where I'm going -- damned turtle totem. :) So, let me get this straight -- if I want to get Terry cracked in the head all I have to do is get Loret on the job, eh??? Maybe I'll start a new username to flirt so you'll get in hot water! HA! Now if it happens you'll never know if it is me or not, hee hee. I'm a baaad wittle shrub! ;)  (Oct 12, 2008 | post #14)

Is Wicca compatible with mainstream religions?

No not at all. I wanted to avoid being too long winded in reply, as I often am so. Let me explain then... Religions all come with some sort of moral code, and someone who is aware of any of those codes of conduct is preferable to one who is ignorant of all methods; codes make it easy, require little thought actually. This is not in any way to state that an Atheist, Satanist, Hindi, Jew, or any other theological system has the corner on the market of moral behavior either -- they too are just codes of conduct. What I'm saying is that I feel most Christians would prefer a person to have been taught some way of moral behavior, even if it's through self observation, than to act wild with disregard to proper behavior -- treating people right and being good in your heart is what counts most.  (Oct 12, 2008 | post #13)

Welcome-----duh ARTIST--->>>TREE !!!!!!!!

HEY! Yeah for me, I finally became a big girl and found my way here! Thank you all so much for the warm, if mildly odd at times, welcome! I've gotta love a place with a section called "Offbeat "! ;) HELLOOOO EVERYONE! As Big T said, I'm an artist, and I use my name everywhere else, so why not here... Tree Pruitt (googleable). I work with a variety of different types of art, but am mainly a painter of whatever the hell I feel like painting or making. I'm currently located at my old childhood house in the Cincinnati Ohio area, but my heart yearns to return to the rugged Pacific Northwest. I'm also a Pagan, which is the simplest way to sum my eclectic beliefs (Progressive Wicca actually). In truth, I am an arm-chair philosopher (yes, a Sag), and I rarely mind sharing my ideas (neo-hippie). I share my life with the real man of my dreams, and though the dream was a nightmare life has been peachy with my soul-mate by my side. LOL! :)  (Oct 12, 2008 | post #11)

Is Wicca compatible with mainstream religions?

I've had very few poor experiences with non-Pagans accepting my ways. I think most Christians overall are tolerant of other beliefs; it's our right to go to Hell if we want to, LOL! ;) Of course I am being general, but being compatible isn't just "getting along"; as a Wiccan of 30 years I readily except some Christian figures, such as Saint Benedict, into my rituals or spells if the character befits the need. I will just as easily accept Ganesha too, being Eclectic Progressive, so yes I do think there is compatibility. In long discussions with a Catholic friend we discovered that, as in other theological systems, our ways are not too different. I think many could agree that SOME morality or religion is better than none at all.  (Oct 12, 2008 | post #7)

Well said! If someone is still wondering what we mean then think of this... two names that most people should know, Carl Jung and the fictional Sherlock Holmes both famously used intuitive and interpretive analysis. Jung used clues from inside our psyche and Holmes used clues from the external environment; know or resource the basic meaning then interpret the overall effect based upon what can be observed. An other matter ... is is random chance or Divine Intervention that put the girl in the car at the right time to see the dead dog on the road? That is totally up to the individual person, because the method works either way; you don't have to be a shrink or a witch, just be aware.  (Oct 12, 2008 | post #14)

Sure, it is akin to interpreting a dream, and as in dream interpretation there are archetypal symbols, or what are like main attributes, that each symbol may hold; for example the dog being a symbol of loyalty, or donkey and elephant being symbols of American political parties. The dog may be "loyalty " but how it is being expressed in a particular individual life will cause an exact meaning to vary; towards the good or bad side of an interpretation. In regards to an ostrich screwing a duck -- I believe that only in USA government do different species of animals screw eachother! ;) LOL!  (Oct 12, 2008 | post #13)
