Cunningham column: Three-touchdown underdog Ole Miss outs...

Max stop comparing UF with UM. UF is the biggest state university in Florida with about 80,000 students and UM is a private school with approximately 20,000 students; so it's true you will always have more alumni than UM. An to all the other gator fans, of course your stadium is always going to be packed. You have success right now, you have an in-campus stadium and the only real sport entertaining in town is the gators, so of course you'll have packed stadium and courts. In Miami we have every professional sports franchise (Dolphins, Heat, Marlins and Panthers) and then we have UM, so of course we won't be able to pack Dolphin Stadium or the Bank Center, we have too much competition for the fan hard earned dollar. Stop being a UM hater, it's just amazing that Miami has won 5 football championships, because of its size, so kudos to the administration and the coaches. We are still a young team, are we are playing like it, peaks and valleys, but the tradition of winning is already returning, it's just a matter of time before UM becomes elite again. And by the way, you all gator fans, relax, it's just a game.  (Sep 28, 2008 | post #89)

McCain Savors New Hampshire Comeback

What we need is stronger regulations and oversight by the government. The myth that a free market will regulate itself, that myth created by Milton Friedman and all his followers, the Chicago Boys is fraud and wrong. Capitalism is the number 1 system in the world, but we need strong oversight by the government. What happened to airlines, telephone and cable companies and numerous others when deregulation happened: bankruptcies, companies closing, prices going way up instead of down trhough competition as they assumed, etc. We need to go back to Keynes principles and we will much better off.  (Sep 15, 2008 | post #40)

Americans thriving on big defense, not big egos

DWade saying winning gold in the Olympics is more important than winning the NBA championship baffles you? Well there it is, where all the problems with the USA around the world start. We Americans thinking and believing the "me" , "I" philosophy. Anywhere in the world athletes view representing their countries as the ultimate prize and winning in that context is the icing in the cake. Yeah, and I do believe competing in the Olympics or a World championship ( a real world championship, not the World Series, which is not world at all) is the ultimate achievement.  (Aug 23, 2008 | post #2)

Allegiance to country thing of past

Well for one, we have athletes in the US, specially professionals in football and basketball to name a few that do not want to play in the Olympics or World Championships because it interferes with their professional teams, talking about being loyal to your country or yourself. So your article does not surprise me, what surprises me is trying to be holier than thou with US athletes.  (Aug 22, 2008 | post #16)

Future of GM may rest with Volt electric car

What's the snag, Chevrolet already had an electric car back in the 80's or 90's the EV1 that was given to many celebrities in Hollywood, but it was taken away and all of the units destroyed. Rent the DVD Who Killed the Electric Car?, a very good and eye opening documentary. Chevrolet is a joke.  (Aug 14, 2008 | post #9)

Longtime good guy isn't about to go bad -- Football, Zach...

It's right to look for life after football, when you have 2 more years at 8 mil per, and then your football pensions, which pays OJ Simpson like 12,000 a month, so I can imagine how much Taylor's pension would be. Wrong timing, he needs to thinks about football until he retires. Strahan was pondering retirement, not by going to a reality show. So, please stop this charade.  (Jun 2, 2008 | post #13)

You meant real "football " theatrics, that's lame, you have floppers on every sport, and there is always been floppers. You should let the referees call it as they see it. Fines, that's a crock, to subjective to be imposing fines. What they should be looking at is letting kids come to the pros from high school, but if you opt for college, fulfill your scholarship (4 years). Enough said.  (Jun 1, 2008 | post #1)

Still, he's employed by the Dolphins and if he wants to pursue a Hollywood career, don't do it at the expense of his football career and the Dolphins. Choose.  (May 19, 2008 | post #10)
