What Viking Farms Tell Us About Climate Change

I agree with your last sentence. We need to protect "our home" the Earth, because even if there's a sister out there, it will be a very long time before our descendants can get there. It's true that Earth goes through climate cycles of hot and cold, but that does not negate the danger we're in NOW from global warming. It will take hundreds or even thousands of years for any climate change to reverse course. Global warming is not a myth or politics, the warnings showing up everywhere. The growth of cities and asphalt and concrete and the felling of tree forests everywhere will do us in. Trees eat carbon dioxide and we're killing most of them.  (Dec 16, 2007 | post #3)

Brow-Raising 'Mona Lisa' Discovery

LOL, I read somewhere that she was a 14 year old girl, mistress to Da Vinci's client, and she had that smile on her face because Da Vinci exposed himself to her. I don't know if all that is true, someone joking I'm sure.  (Oct 18, 2007 | post #17)

Sex with robots 'not far away'

That's 12/21/2012, only five years from now. BUT, I have a theory that the calendar writers had to flee for their lives due to the Spanish conquest slaughter of the Aztec people and they were never able to keep "writing " their calendars. Well, at least I'm trying to be positive. There's been way too many "end of the world" prophesies that never came through, ask the Jehovah Witness people.  (Oct 15, 2007 | post #158)

Christian image is turning youths off

How do you KNOW what God hates, did he/she tell you? What you know about what God wants is what the human clerics have said and they only tell you what they want you to believe. NO ONE has spoken to God, at least not while alive.  (Oct 14, 2007 | post #674)

Sex with robots 'not far away'

One of the things that makes us human is that we get bored very easily. Even if we could programme these robots and even change the programme nightly, eventually we would get bored and long for the human mind's uniqueness and uncertaintity. The basic truth is that we humans are incapable of being totally happy.  (Oct 14, 2007 | post #9)

Southwest Airlines makes man change T-shirt

I definitely agree with you on that one. Yes, they would be more respected if they were always consistent. And I hate the way they're always apologizing to customers that were told to change or cover up. They need to either educate their stuff better about what is considered suitable attire or back up their decisions on those matters. I also think it's hypocritical of them to censor clothing when their staff was made to wear hooters-type clothing at one time. I still feel that Americans are slobs here and abroad and that is nothing to feel proud about. And, lots of businesses refuse service to people entering with no shoes or barechested, this has nothing to do with freedom of speech or whatever. Some people even feel they should be allowed to go around in the nude if they so wish.  (Oct 8, 2007 | post #364)

Weird

Southwest Airlines makes man change T-shirt

Well, at one time SW used to make obese people buy two seats, don't know if they still do. As to the clothes, Americans are some of the sloppiest people when it comes to clothes. I think they should have a dress code everywhere except the beach and picnics. I see old pictures where people of the 50's and such used to take pride in their appearance. Now they dress like slobs, I even saw a guy wearing shorts in a restaurant where waiters wore tuxedos! Maybe other airlines should back Southwest, they're on the right track. How about those women boarding dressed like prostitutes, with miniskirts and low cut tops. Come on guys, do you see my point?  (Oct 8, 2007 | post #307)

Microscope on marital spats - does fighting make you sick?

Women are more emotional and let out their feelings, don't keep them bottled up. They also (mostly) don't indulge in life-shortening behaviour like fighting and taking lots of chances with their lives as men do. And, until recently, only men went to war. Also, statistically, just as many male babies are born as female babies, but lots of them die before their first birthday and even more die before their 30's.  (Oct 2, 2007 | post #5)

Facebook used to find woman exposed to rabies

Re-read the article. They're looking for the woman who hit the bat and the woman that brought it to the wildlife center because they could BOTH have been exposed to the rabies the bat carried. Rabies is a horrible disease to die from and the exposed person can expose others through bites and saliva.  (Sep 22, 2007 | post #8)

From Ozone Success, a Potential Climate Model

Ugh, I don't want to live in a dark cave with no windows, I'd die of claustrophobia. And, we'd need 24/7 electricity to light up the cave. What about floods and such? Not everybody will be able to build on the side of a hill. I do agree with you about the asphalt, though. That's why I like to live on the fringes of cities.  (Sep 19, 2007 | post #13)

I don't smoke, but the tobacco people don't chain the smoker to a pipe and force them to smoke. The smoking is voluntary, he didn't give this girl a choice and she was also a minor.  (Sep 19, 2007 | post #19)

Man could get up to 421 years in prison in SC text messag...

First of all, I am very happy she was found and riunited with her family. I hope she's not too harmed psychologically. I would probably trust a police officer, too, and I'm not 14 years old. Second, he's pretty dumb, giving her his cell phone. All his brain cells must be concentrated "down there". I wonder if he would have killed her in the end?  (Sep 19, 2007 | post #16)
