Ringgold Drug Testing all Athletes

BVA has been drug testing the athletes for years. It started back when my kid was in h.s.( kid graduated in 2000). John Fetko ( channel 11) said the reason BVA won all those football games was because of drug use. The football team never got tested even though it was supposed to be random, it was the swimmers and the minor sports players who had to pee in a cup according to the kids. The student athletes didn't think it was a big deal.  (Aug 18, 2010 | post #5)

election time

If you don't like how things are run, go to council/board meetings, become an informed voter in your community or possibly run for office yourself.  (Aug 12, 2010 | post #25)

Is a bar crawl an appropriate way to fundraise?

Fund Raising is a real pain in the neck. From bake sales, hoagie sales, gun bash , cash bashes, selling wrapping paper, bar crawls etc. everyone involved will tell you that it takes alot of work to raise much needed funds for the organizations. For those critical naysayers , how about volunteering to help with the next fundraising event?  (Aug 11, 2010 | post #19)

Sen. John Kerry docks new boat in Rhode Island, saving taxes

I am sure John Heinz is spinning in his grave when it comes to issues concerning his former wife Mrs. Kerry and her hubby. the Heinz family would gladly pay their taxes unlike their former daughter in law. When Etna ( near Pittsburgh) flooded that stupid woman refused to help the community even though John Kerry was up for a national election. Their true colors are are really showing!!  (Jul 24, 2010 | post #163)

gas rights- should we sign

Peacock Keller a law firm in Washington Pa is advertizing stating they can help the home owner. Again money seems to be the issue, who can afford a lawyer? The explosion in Indiana twp, really made me wonder if we are going to be left with a bag full of Sh*t while the politicians who think the drilling will solve all the problems in Harrisburg. Just like gambling will help lower school taxes, what a crock of B.S.  (Jul 24, 2010 | post #14)

gas rights- should we sign

I have heard rumors of a class action suit being filed to stop the drilling. Our Gov. Spendell wants us to sign, but no way in my book. Many are taking a wait and see stance. But for sure I want to stop the process because its an accident waiting to happen and we can't afford to lose our well.  (Jul 20, 2010 | post #4)

Immigration - Belle Vernon, PA

When you are stopped for a traffic violation you have to show id and your owners card. The police cars have your info on file when they run your plate. So I dont understand the big deal the feds are making of this case. They need to spend the money to get the border fence up and stop the drug trade.  (Jul 15, 2010 | post #7)

What would make you come to town and support local busine...

Personally I hate Walmart for shopping. When travel I love to go into the towns and shop the local stores. You really get a feel for the community by doing this. Donora is a ghost town for shopping. Monessen's downfall was when they put those concrete awnings over the shops to make it like an indoor mall. It made Monessen look terrible. Mon City I like for shopping but I am hardly near there. As for Rostraver what they should of done was make a town center type area and encourage the local shop owners to move in. Walmart did bring in business to the valley but at what cost?  (Jul 8, 2010 | post #17)

Mid Mon Valley leaders say proposed funding increase does...

It is well and good that the school districts got their funding increased. But the public libraries who are part of the educational process got 9% reduction in state aid for 2011. Again, the public libraries are the bast@rd child under the department education when it comes to funding. The thing is the public libraries are a free source of knowlege for everyone and may go the way of the dinosaurs even though they are busier than ever.  (Jul 1, 2010 | post #1)

Grill 51

We recently had the displeasure of going out to eat at Grill 51 ( the old Doghouse Location). The food was ok but expensive and the wait staff was terrible. The girl dumped drinks on my husband, she didn't ask if we wanted refils on our drinks, she forgot my salad and when it was time for the check she asked us 3 different times if we wanted our bill. Locally I would eat at Sony's Grill, Grill Street, Reddogs and the chain places. Forget Grill 51. Others I have talked to have had problems there.  (Jun 30, 2010 | post #1)

Gas drilling dangerous to water supply

My hubby finally saw that HBO special on gas drilling. He was shocked and discusted on the way the people were treated. He said no way would he sign our rights away.  (Jun 30, 2010 | post #14)
