Caraway found Guilty how much time should he get ?

He received the full 20 year sentence! I heard his wife sold most everything they had to try to a new attorney to get him off. She shoulda been using that money to take care of her kids instead of trying to get him out. How long can someone sacrifice their family to blindly follow a convicted child molester? Consider me mind boggled.  (Aug 2, 2013 | post #31)

God just killed 20 children

No, lets just teach our kids that if an angry mob is at the door, you should offer your virgin daughters to be raped, instead of sacrificing yourself for your family and guests. If a man who offers up his children to be raped instead of himself is a "righteous " man in your eyes, you need a transplant.  (May 21, 2013 | post #37)

God just killed 20 children

I wouldn't kill anyone (children or otherwise) to scare people who have never seen or know me into worshiping and loving me. ESPECIALLY if I decide to remain invisible to them. I wouldn't force a teen child to carry a baby. (Mary was estimated to be 12). I would try to stop a rapist or murderer if I saw them committing the act. And with that, those difference make me more moral than your Judeo-Christian god.  (May 21, 2013 | post #28)

Bible study rules for public schools proposed

I didn't miss the point whatsoever, you just want to ignore the reality of it. Religion isn't needed to be good. If it isn't necessary for good deeds and knowing right and wrong, then what is its purpose. Some humans are flawed - but not all. Not everyone lies, steals, and cheats because they can get away with it. And they don't need religion to keep them from doing it. I never said being good got one their celestial carrot, but "not being good" definitely gets it taken away. You can proclaim "belief in Jesus" all day long, but your bible states you are known by your works and are to be accountable for your actions. They won't get you into heaven, but they CERTAINLY can get you refused entry. Thus, you have to do good in order to get in - whether you want to admit it or not. Additionally, given the parable of the talents, simply "hiding your talents" is deemed as just as bad as wasting them on bad acts. Thus, we see: 1. Religion isn't needed to know right from wrong. 2. Christians either believe because they want a prize or fear the fire - both of which are self-serving. 3. True selfless acts are those done without regard of whether it gets you some afterlife prize or keeps you from burning.  (May 7, 2013 | post #102757)

Amen! And one doesn't need religion to teach one right from wrong. If one doesn't know right from wrong, one lacks empathy - not religion. And if one needs offer of a celestial prize in order to be good, they are selfish and will never truly be selfless. If they need threat of eternal damnation, they are just as self-serving - as their "good acts" are only to keep their tail from the fire and not out of a true spirit of empathy.  (May 7, 2013 | post #102719)

Yep, unless she wants them unsealed when she turns 18.  (May 2, 2013 | post #22)

Caraway found Guilty how much time should he get ?

He had admitted to them when he was arrested. Even spoke to the media (I think the media interview he gave is still floating out there somewhere). Then he decided to not take the stand to contest any of them. Even statements he made said he sent them, as he claimed he was just "role playing" with the 13 year old girl. So I think the issue of him sending the messages was never in dispute. And in the end, his own words helped to hang him. As to why the wife hadn't read them, it would be pure speculation. But some people don't want to see reality or aren't able to face it - as I bet her world revolved around him. Talk about true "blind faith."  (May 2, 2013 | post #15)

Yes, the verdict on each individual charge has to be unanimous else it would have been a hung jury and mistrial. He was found not guilty on one of the individual charges (remember it has be be proven "beyond a reasonable doubt" - not whether they believed it was true, but whether the evidence removed all reasonable doubt). I am sure it was all based on testimony, level of detail in those testimonies, physical evidence, and facebook messages, which when put into context could corroborate the testimony.  (May 2, 2013 | post #13)

Caraway found Guilty how much time should he get ?

12 reasonable jurors found otherwise. He was hung by his own words.  (May 1, 2013 | post #6)

When Jesus comes back,, HARLAN IS IN TROUBLE!!

And here you ignore the obvious as well. It is a discussion of idolatry. Further, you ignore the ACTIVE role of god in "giving them up". Seems that the gay feelings was a punishment resulting from a direct act of god, rather than the state of being to be punished. May want to actually read what you are cut and pasting.  (Mar 13, 2013 | post #33)

If you can't see it is about forceable rape, you are ignoring the obvious. But incidentally, isn't it curious he offers up his daughters to be gang raped - yet is considered a "virtuous " man... No one considers the fact he would do that to his own daughters (and later even had sex with them)when they look at that story.  (Mar 13, 2013 | post #32)

Holy crap - literally. You don't seem to understand biology and resort to scare tactics unfounded in reality to justify your belief system. Please tell me I have misinterpreted your intent because: 1. Saline CANNOT substitute for blood. Red blood cells are required to carry oxygen in the blood. Without red blood cells delivering oxygen, your tissues die of asphyxiation. Saline would do NOTHING but dilute your blood further. There is no substitute for blood, particularly red blood cells and their hemoglobin. If you think that is the case, go ahead and have two-three pints of blood removed and have them infuse you two to three pints of saline. But get ready for a coma and seizures as your blood gets even further diluted in volume. Saline is just water with the proper level of salts - none of which carry protein or required oxygen. 2. Blood products are THOROUGHLY screened for disease. Back in the past, there were errors due to lack of technology to properly screen. There is no risk if the blood is properly screened and typed. 3. Drinking of blood would do nothing but get proteins into the system. Further it would not get them into the system in the required manner due to denaturation and degradation of the required proteins and cellular components. Method of delivery has a DEFINITE impact upon whether it is beneficial or not. 4. Jesus himself had his apostles "drink his blood" and "eat his flesh". While symbolically (or not so symbolically depending on the Christian sect you belong to), this would seem to indicate that he didn't see a problem with it. Why order people to symbolically do things that your religious beliefs explicitly prohibit? Seems to be a bit of an inconsistency.  (Feb 8, 2013 | post #94818)

gays in harlan

That is some hilarious stuff there! What else is the bible against? Divorce Remarrying (with one exception) Shellfish Mixed-race marriages Mixed fiber clothing Pork Touching a woman while on her period Having a woman touch anything while on her period Tattoos Women cutting their hair Men having long hair The list goes on. The fact that you focus on the one "prohibition " to justify bigotry while ignoring all the others just makes you a hypocrite.  (Feb 8, 2013 | post #44)
