H1N1, MRSA, & Pneumonia Suspected in Amherst Teen Death
Jaycee, If it were my gkid, I'd be taking her to an independent Infectious Disease Specialist, for a new MRSA culture AFTER(2 weeks)the completion of meds. Another thing is she is most likely infectious and should not be in proximity to children younger than 6. (Nov 23, 2009 | post #2)
Cecilia, Maybe hospitals should culture prior to admission. Have a infection control nurse. Have a quality assurance office to record vectors. Routine environmental testing for bacteria. Stricter employee protocol management. Housekeeping trained in disease abatement. Finally independent auditors to certify and publicly report. But it is cheaper to continue negligent behavior with only a minimal chance of losing a suit. Well DNA testing is on the horizon. When it gets here, those like you in denial, while be singled out and should be made equally culpable. Now if you can prove the immaculate infection then I will have to reconsider my argument. Plagues from TB to leprosy invading U.S.
You people are probably the same ones I see in the Walmart bathroom that dont wash your hands then go back out front and handle your church bake sale goods. Maybe youre the ones in the scrubs after your nursing home shift of wrestling residents with C. Diff. groping the produce. (Nov 3, 2009 | post #21)
Katie Knowledge is power. There is a MRSA strain of acne, as well as a resistant strain of acne. You should be concerned about antibiotics. Tell Dad I said you need the "results " from a culture. Check your paranoia and check your diet. Right now you probably need probiotics to re-establish your good bacteria. E. Coli in the gut actually produces Vitamin K. If you care to visit my website, there is alot of info. http://superbugass assins.com MRSA is much like a chess game, intracate. You can contact me through the site, but remind me I replied to your post here on topix. First piece of advice... Get a new pillow and a several new pillow cases. Change you pillow case when you wake. Use personal linens that are fresh laundered. Avoid skin to skin contact with others. There is more I could write chapters. (Oct 27, 2009 | post #39)
I have put my MRSA drum in the attic. I would just like add to Kelly. Yes, MRSA colonizes the skin and nares. There are a hundred or more strains. Many hosts are never infected. But when it does cause an infection the first thing it does is nuetralize the immune system. The immune system will attack the MRSA and MRSA will release peptides that desimate the immune cells. This can happen is as little as an hour. I call MRSA the "polite bacteria" in that it will yield to other bacteria such as strep. It sits and waits on that bacteria to further destroy the immune system. H1N1 is upon us and one of the biggest worries is secondary bacterial infections mostly the lungs. But you can bet MRSA will take advantage. (Oct 24, 2009 | post #37)
It is doubtful that you have re-infected yourself from your personal environment after 4 years. Antibiotics can play havoc with your immune system. It may never fully recover. I am guessing your past MRSA was discover at that wound site. One of the symptoms commonly shared is a below normal tempature about 97. The only definite determination is a positive culture after MRSA has presented itself again. I would take my concerns to a general practioner first. (Oct 7, 2009 | post #203)

Do not if you have broken skin. Rinse in clean chlorinated water frequently otherwise. You can use water sterilization tablets in freshwater in a pinch. Kill it before it kills you. (Sep 19, 2009 | post #2)
Local News - "He Told Me It Was MRSA"
TNgirl, You leave out how it was determined to be MRSA. http://superbugass assins.com My Dr.(s) PCP, Surgeon, and Infectious Disease Dr. all suggest against steriods. I was asking for steriods to curb an allergic reaction and was told by all three that steriods are the equivalent to throwing gasoline on a fire, when it comes to MRSA. But my practicioners were concientious about testing. From your brief discription I can tell you it is HA-MRSA and requires diligent attention. If you are not recieving that you need too seek it out.
