Abortion Fight Erupts in Health Care Debate

Poor analogy.  (Saturday | post #679)

Obama not up to my expectations

Hey, Tut, how come he gets 75 virgins, and every one else gets 72? Quick, call Pelosi...it's time for a "redistributi on of virgins"!  (Saturday | post #59)

We Can't Kill All The Muslims: O'Reilly

Bos, I'm not really too up on the differences in the services at various christian denominations, alright? Sorry! It's not something that I'm that interested in. And I do not subscribe to the brain dead theory that the earth is only 6,000 years old, nor do I feel God is destroying America for whatever reason! I don't think God is actually doing anything to anybody! If he is out there somewhere, in an ever-expanding universe, I'm sure he's got more important fish to fry than worrying about gay marriage or stamps being 44 cents!  (Saturday | post #1308)

We Can't Kill All The Muslims: O'Reilly

Eggs, I'm just blabbing from experience. I have to take my sons, 9 and 7, to church(Roman Catholic) once a month as part of their 'religious instuction' program. Not my cup of tea, but the missus wants it done, so there it is. I'm just saying that when I am paying attention (Not daydreaming about Jets-Patriots or Catherine Zeta-Jones) every reading, sermon, and homily is based on New Testament chapters, either the gospels or the ensuing letters and epistles. I haven't heard any good old fashioned 'fire-and-brimstone, God smiting everybody for imagined slights' kind of rhetoric. But I don't know, Protestant branches may be different.  (Thursday Nov 19 | post #1285)

Abortion rights groups unite in fight against coverage restrict...

YOU come up with poor people should abstain from sex, try to assign it to something I said, and I'm asinine??? Good grief, Charlie Brown! Never said it, never even thought it! That's your absurd creation, not mine! Lulu, our relationship isn't working. I think we need to start seeing other people. And I'll take the high road...to quote George Costanza, "it's not you, it's me!" Peace!  (Thursday Nov 19 | post #64)

Don't let abortion destroy health-care reform

Again....if it's a PRIVATE insurance company (GHI, Aetna, Vytra, etc.) then fine, cover anything you want. It's your money! Have a liposuction benefit, or hair transplant benefit! It's all on you! But once you ask taxpayers to subsize elective birth control, it becomes ridiculous! If contraceptives are as "inexpensive " and "reliable " as you say, then pay for your own!!!! It never ends! And down the road, when some psychologists come out and say people who are prematurely gray suffer from a host of problems. Do we have taxpayer subsidized hair dye? At what point is enough going to be enough? When the ridiculous goes to the sublime? At what point does personal responsibility ever come into play for you? This is why you lose many potential supporters in the whole Roe vs. Wade situation. You have a lot of conservative people who accept Roe/Wade as the law of the land, and they just deal with it and go with the flow. But then, even after achieving the landmark decision in favor of a woman's right to choose, it's still not good enough for you. Now, EVERYONE has to subsidize your birth control!!! Sorry, that's just mind-boggling nerve!  (Monday Nov 16 | post #53)

Lulu, we can't go on making excuses for peoples' irresponsible behavior. People make individual choices when, where, and with who to have sex with. By it being an individual choice, hopefully made with responsible thought behind it, then the consequences, should any arise, are likewise to be handled individually. And as for many men refusing to wear condoms, shame on them! And shame on the woman for letting him.  (Monday Nov 16 | post #49)

Actually, very little. The New testament is the primary source for Christian belief structure, especially since 325 and the Council of Nicaea.  (Monday Nov 16 | post #1076)

Food stamp recipients getting increase in funding

That's true, but if the fire department arrives, and instead of putting out the fire, they pour gasoline on it, then they share some culpability with the arsonist!  (Monday Nov 16 | post #2806)

Chicky, my little ol' opinion doesn't mean squat in the grand scheme of things. Do I want to see health care reformed? What rational person doesn't? But I'd like to see the brake applied in terms of cost and Federal government involvement/contro l. But Congress, Democrats and Republicans alike, have a habit of always sticking things into various bills and the end result is gridlock. And then no one's happy, no one is satisfied. No part of this issue is easy, I'm afraid. I haven't heard one poltician from the left or the right spell out anything in their respective plans that truly fixes the system without bankrupting us. After all the money Bush wasted from 2003 on, can this nation afford more astronomical debt? Sorry, didn't mean to digress! Again, we just seem to see things differently. No harm in that!  (Sunday Nov 15 | post #47)

Obama takes heat on Afghan timing

I'm as conservative as the next guy, but some of you guys on the right are getting a little whacked out over this. Look, let Obama take some time, get ALL the facts, logistics, and strategies from the commanders in the field, and then, hopefully, he makes the right decisions, based on what the experts tell him. Would it do any of us, or our soldiers and airmen, any good to just haphazardly dump 60,000 troops in there, or to just pullout completely? A lot of stuff has to be sorted out, Pakistan's role in all of this especially. You want to go nuts over healthcare, fine. You want to get angry over cap and trade, or bailouts, great! But this issue demands a little prudence, guys. At least give him a chance, at least for a little while longer.  (Sunday Nov 15 | post #20)
