A 70k medical bill fears of Darwen couple

$70,000 medical bill? That's all??? She's lucky, I'm probably looking at $200,000=300,000 in medical bills after my car accident. If not more since it's now been about 7 1/2 months and I'm still having problems from my injuries. I read a article somewhere that hospitals just set a outrageous price for those that have Medicare knowing that Medicare is only going to pay so much of it since they probably won't get that last 20%. If hospitals didn't charge such incredibly high fees, perhaps folks could afford to pay them. Those folks work hard saving lives. They deserve to be paid, but how the heck can anyone afford to when the economy is so bad and so many are out of work or like me on a fixed income? I'm having to work out payments. Quite frankly in these situations I think the person responsible for the accident should have to pay. Not just with his car insurance (which in my car the fellow only had minimum) but wages garnished if that is what it takes. The medical bills should fall upon the person AT FAULT not their victims.  (Mar 8, 2011 | post #1)

Octomom Faces Eviction If Balloon Payment Not Made by Dec...

I find it rather saddening that you would consider this woman a role-model. I think I could find someone better than a woman that ALREADY had several children who purposely impregnated herself to have 8 more! As a woman, yes I do enjoy sex. I've also always been poor, since on disability. BUT I HAVE BEEN RESPONSIBLE!!! I did not want to bring a child into this world that I could not properly care for. Children are not meal-tickets are windows to fame.  (Jan 5, 2011 | post #242)

Gee, no wonder they are "recognized as agency of the year for traffic enforcement" when they give out tickets to people who 'run a green light'. But, of course you can't fight the good 'ole boys, so you might as well agree and pay the fine. Then of course there is the multitude of tickets I'm sure they have written for folks that have done 'U-turns' to get over to KFC, Wendy's and those resturants. There is no sign stating no U-turn, but they pull plenty of folks over for it.  (Jan 5, 2011 | post #1)

Octomom Faces Eviction If Balloon Payment Not Made by Dec...

I know I will get a few bad judgement calls on this post, but the state should have taken all of her children away. When it became public knowledge that this woman PURPOSELY had herself impregnated several times she was not only endangering herself but the lives of her future children. Also in endangering herself, she put the children she already had at risk of becoming orphaned (I forget where the 'father' is in all tis). They arrest people for trying to commit suicide and child endangerment. Why wasn't she? This woman is not to be admired at all, and the state should be ashamed at not removing the children. Now they may end up homeless? Some rich sucker will come through and bail her sorry butt out. (More than likely it will end up being on the taxpayer's dollar)  (Dec 28, 2010 | post #93)

N.J. woman enjoys 30,000-calorie holiday dinner

This woman should have our pity, not insults. She thinks her only way to 15 mins. of fame is through becoming the world's fattest person. I can't imagine there would be a insurance company that would insure her. But, think for a moment the multitude of health issues she is facing if she doesn't already have them, diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiac problems, breathing issues. I've heard of people eating themselves to death with much less food. How can 1 person no matter their weight eat so much food and live?  (Dec 28, 2010 | post #9)

Deputies shoot, kill hammer-wielding woman

I can see the point to this story from a couple different aspects. Cops are a little bit too gung-ho now. Granted, I do not know the whole story, but I have always understood that they were to use minimal force as required to subdue a attacker or suspect. Now even if the woman hit the one officer's newly reconstructed hand (if it was so newly done, why was he/she back at work?) the other officer should have shot the woman to disable, not kill. It's better not to take a life if you do not have to. (Btw, don't even get me started about my opinions on why jails are so crowded these days.)  (Dec 23, 2010 | post #481)

Cop shoots, kills family dog

The dog was in a fenced in area. I.E. Invisible fence. Even though it was not marked, I doubt the officer would have not fired. He should have waited until it was on the street on public property. Dogs bark and growl at strangers, that is what they are SUPPOSE to do. They are protecting their people & home. This dog was killed for doing it's job. 8 times out of 10 a dog will just growl and bark, this was a golden retriever, they are not known to be vicious animals. Most likely it would have only just growled and barked and had the officer had a back bone and spoke firmly to it other than just STOP! then BANG!!! it probably would have backed down or stayed it's distance. I hope the family sues the police officier, the city and the county. Cops need better training to deal with animals in general, this happens way to much. And I hope that he is punished to the maximum that the law for animal cruelty will allow (which in my opinion is not enough!). Along with taking his badge, because he did not stay cool under pressure, which is not good police material. Next time it could be a child that he shoots. Because the child picked up a stick and held it up like a make-believe gun. Whatever happened to minimal force required to subdue? What is it now, maximum force to kill?  (Dec 23, 2010 | post #67)

For the love of petsNew vets take over Animal Hospital of...

Thank goodness that someone else has taken over Gordon County Animal Hospital! The previous vet and his staff did not make me feel as if they cared about my pet or me. I felt they only cared about 1 thing MONEY. Of course, medical costs for pet care is high, but they charged more than other local vets. I had a sick dog, which I feel they misdiagnoised, the medication did nothing, and he only worsened until he was dead. I would call for advice on what to do for him, they would just tell me give him another pill or wouldn't call me back at all. Maybe with new vets who possibly care for their clients animals and not just their money, more animals will get the treatment they deserve.  (Dec 23, 2010 | post #1)

Social Security payment stagnates for 2011

You know that politicians would be raising holy heck if they didn't get their yearly increases. If we just took the increases that they get every year, we could fund probably everyone who is on Social Security to get a increase! Once again though they tease us (those of us on Social Security) with the possibility we will get $250 in exchange for the fact they are RIPPING US OFF AGAIN!!! Once again they will fail I'm sure to vote on it and send it to us. Why do we keep letting these politicians RIP US OFF???  (Nov 25, 2010 | post #1)

It's really sad that police departments all over georgia ...

I rather have that $15 ticket as you put it roboblogger. I was in a head-on accident this past summer in Calhoun. I believe I recieved as little damage as I did all because of my seat belt. I much rather have a burn scar than have gone flying thru my windshield. So keep that in mind when your paying your $15 ticket for your seatbelt. And btw, I think a seatbelt fine is $25.  (Nov 25, 2010 | post #1)

U.S. triples AIDS, malaria, TB funds for Africa

I'm no fan of George Bush. And granted I think that his gesture of sending more money over to Africa is a nice one. But, what about the poor here in America that can't get any healthcare? What about those that barely make $1000 in a month and can't get Medicaid?  (Jul 31, 2008 | post #86)

Spike Lee takes Jackson to task for Obama comments

Jackson has always spoke his mind, but he's as much of a racist as Spike Lee. Obama's got to 'suck up' to the white folk to get their votes. That's just something Jackson and Lee don't get. Spike Lee doesn't have any right to be calling someone else a bigot since he's a bigot himself.  (Jul 13, 2008 | post #20)

Man injured while consumed by the spirit of God sues church

Oh good grief, I doubt he was filled with the 'spirit' of God. More than likely some 'ahem' other type of spirits (alcohol), which would have explained his getting injuried since people have less control of their limbs when they've had something to drink. Besides, finding "GOD" isn't going to happen in a church. Supposedly GOD is everywhere, and if so, why must we go to a building to worship this being? God is suppose to be loving, so I HIGHLY doubt GOD caused this man to fall down and get hurt.  (Jul 13, 2008 | post #223)

Man gets ticket for going topless in public

Alot of the shows that are on t.v. now should be considered illegal. How pathetic we've become to watch a guy who can't get a date (That show where the Bachleor courts 10 girls and eventually chooses one), or let's see being entertained by people being stuck on a island (LOST and the other show that was a play off of Gilligan's Island) Or how many pounds a fat person can lose in 6 weeks (or whatever amount of time) Let's not forget all the makeover shows. Although I do think the one that makeover's people's homes for them interesting. I kind of like that one, especially when they had made-over this soldier's home, (he was due home from a tour in Iraq). Very touching. I don't see where any of these so called reality shows are entertaining. And yes, I know most of my post is off-topic, but also, in these 'reality' shows you see men going topless ALL THE TIME. It supposedly is great for increasing the ratings. But, do you see police squads breaking onto the set and arresting everyone because a few guys are topless?  (Jul 13, 2008 | post #47)
