How long until you feel the effects of Zoloft?

I'm now 14 weeks on 150mg. I have days when I feel ok but have to push myself to get out there and do things, days when I feel almost back to normal, and days like yesterday when I feel totally and utterly rubbish, almost like I did back in the beginning and just lounge around in the chair all day. I suppose it could be because my monthly visitor started yesterday, but it knocks your confidence so much. I really did think that when I got to 12 weeks things would be wonderful! Guess it was wishful thinking. Has anyone ese experienced this?  (May 22, 2013 | post #10340)

Hi Jillian. Yes that s something that a lot of people experience. I did also. It eases over time. I don't understand your schooling system, but how are you when you're in middle school? You must be so young you poor thing. Side effects come and go and change. Never be afraid to ask questions on here as someone will reply. Are you feeling that your anxiety is starting to improve at all? Wishing you all the best. :-)  (May 16, 2013 | post #10298)

Hi Scott. Hang in there. Things will improve. Sometimes the changes are so small that you might not notice them, then you stop and look back and think well that's not as bad as it see to be. Read back through the old posts where it tells you to look after yourself in those first weeks. Everyone s different. Some people apparently get very mild sde effects. Just look after yourself.  (May 14, 2013 | post #10284)

Hi Tina. Your Mum and I have become good friends through this forum and email each other most days. She said that you had started on sertraline. I really do feel for you. I'm about 22 weeks on this now. 12 weeks on 150mg. I have had good moments, really good ones, but then comes the crash. Admittedly the crash isn't as bad as the time before. Everyone says you need lots of patience, and I'm afraid you really do. It will ease I promise, but no one can predict when. You take it really easy and look after yourself. How long until you feel the effects of Zoloft?

Well I've got to the magic 12 weeks on 150mg. Had a relatively good 3 weeks, but since Monday I've been anxious, especially in the mornings. It normally lifts mid afternoon and I'm pretty good in the evening. I must admit that the lows are nowhere near as bad as they used to be. I would just like to know how long these blips carry on for.  (May 10, 2013 | post #10244)

Thank you. That is very reassuring. Luckily I was fine whilst away which was the main thing. These things I used to take for granted. Night away, no problem! Anxiety has certainly changed that!  (May 7, 2013 | post #10222)

How long until you feel the effects of Zoloft?

I have had 3 pretty good weeks. I actually went away overnight at the weekend which was a really big test for me, but I did it. Yesterday and today I've not been feeling so good. Sleepy, going to the toilet rather a lot, added anxiety. I'm 12 weeks on 150mg tomorrow. Is it normal to still have little blips like this at this stage? I am hoping that the blips don't last as long.  (May 7, 2013 | post #10219)

How long until you feel the effects of Zoloft?

Hope all is well with everyone. I seem to be ticking away. Trying to stretch my boundaries a bit every day. Have booked to go away for the night tomorrow. Before I was ill we used to travel all the time without a problem. Since this I have been terrified. But, I think the time has come. We are flying to Manchester on 1st June for 2 nights, so I wanted to get in a trial run before then. Only going to South Devon, about 60 miles away, so am keeping everything crossed. I'm scared of eating breakfast somewhere other than home, so will be a big test! Hoping that with the meds, some positive thinking and my husband beside me I'll be fine. Hope everyone else as a good weekend too.  (May 3, 2013 | post #10189)

Hi Emily. Glad to hear that you've been doing well. I went slightly downhill with each increase but then picked up again. I think as far as the 6 weeks etc go, you start all over again unfortunately. I have been on the drug for about 20 weeks, 11 weeks on my current dose and am very slowly and hopefully getting there. Good luck. :)  (Apr 30, 2013 | post #10169)

Hi. I think this is totally normal. I still get it at odd times now. I think you just need to let it ride and don't beat yourself up about it. I do that. My husband says, if you can't change it don't stress about it. Just go with the flow. Easier said than done I know! But it will get easier. Just look after yourself at the moment. :)  (Apr 27, 2013 | post #10160)
