What about the loss of Elliott's Dairy?

If some of you know the building was for sale at what asking price, who was going to or not going to bid on it, and etc.. Then why would you come to conclusion that they closed the doors rudely without class and left debt? Why wouldn't you come up with the assumption that the landlord was kicking them out because they were selling the building, and prospective new owners have other plans for the property, lets just say maybe a wonderful "big box store". How quick did that sign appear in front of the store? Its happening everywhere. The mom and pop stores are getting beaten by the corporate stores. Think about it.. St. Patricks Day to Elliotts was like Christmas to retail stores. I think they went out with enough class to give the neighborhood their "St. Patricks Day". Fred I am glad to hear that you looked up to Steve that way. He is a great, honest, and caring man. I don't think the man has a mean or deceiptful bone in his body.  (Mar 25, 2010 | post #23)

Wow some of you are really harsh. You DON'T know what the owners were going through during this time. You don't know what happened. And yes I am defensive because one of the owners is a great friend of mine. Tell me something.. How does a business owner "go out with some class" when they close their doors? Every situation is different. BTW I have gone into Jewel and had bad meat, chewy ice cream, stale bread, etc. Give me a break! Elliotts has been in business for a long time, and one of the owners has been with Elliotts since 1989, in which he was not "showy" at all. If anything he was too nice of a guy. He really cared about his employees and his customers. He busted his ass for Elliotts. To all of you Elliotts customers, don't be surprised if you see an "Elliotts Jr." popping up somewhere in the neighborhood with the same lunchmeats and bakery items (pickles too).  (Mar 25, 2010 | post #17)
