Virginia OKs resolution apologizing for slavery

Actually, if you read up in your history books, Africa sold African Americans their own people. Blacks were not the only slaves. There were white people and spanish and indians who were also slaves. It wasn't just secluded to the african american race.  (Feb 26, 2007 | post #117)

Pacers watch Raptors run away in 2nd period

I think by the time I get to see the Pacers play the Heat in March, there won't be any players left if they all keep getting busted doing the dumb stuff they are doing. Do they honestly think they can do these things and get away with it because of being a player for an NBA team?  (Feb 26, 2007 | post #18)

So much for that whole Dodge is better than Ford thing. Are you going to buy another Dodge now? If you really think about it, the American plants use foriegn parts and the foriegn use American parts. So is there really such thing as a full American vehicle and a full Honda/Toyota vehicle?  (Feb 26, 2007 | post #166)

I think I speak for most, too bad you didn't take advantage of the education program. We could have understood half of what you tried to say.  (Feb 26, 2007 | post #165)

My real problem with the UAW isn't that they politic for better wages and benefits, that is their function. My problem with them is that they don't crucify the bad apples. I really think that if they really concentrated on weeding out the shitheads and formed a 100% solid team of skilled (and efficient) union workers then the higher wages would/could be offset with higher productivity. In that case, management is truly pleased with the return on their investment and the productivity that they are getting. That, of course, also goes to better quality in the end. First, let me say this. They do weed out the bad apples. I have seen this happen many times. It may take longer than in a non-union shop or office, but it happens. That is where the place of the union is, to fight for that person's job. Employees are offered incentives other than time and a half. They have education benefits among other things. Second, the union can only weed the people they represent. They cannot touch upper management unless there is a conflict that has to do with a union employee. Some of the upper management may have their job because daddy is a big wig at another plant, or even the plant that the ' **** ' works for. This is how the bad 'turds' float to the top, among other ways we won't get into. The company doesn't always respond to these bad apples by letting them go. They put them in another area and "hide" them. Does this solve the problem? No, it creates a problem in another area. It's all politics, which has taken away from what these car makers used to care about, safefy and quality. The whole Navistar/Ford issue is really about who dropped the ball. Both are pointing fingers at each other right now. In all honesty, no one cares about who's fault it is and who did what. Solve the problem and get an American company back in business.  (Feb 26, 2007 | post #157)

What most people also fail to realize it that all that money Honda and Toyota have is due to no legacy costs. That means no pensions, no benefits for retirees, no nothing for all the money the working man made for the fat cats. Greed is what drives every business any more. And furthermore, the Japanese and Chinese are very patient. Keep that in mind, we may have won the wars againist them in the past but this is the true war that will throw us into a depression and give them the ultimate victory they have worked long and hard for.  (Feb 26, 2007 | post #141)

Kevin wrote: Another good reaason to buy a Dodge. Ford no longer is AMERICAN MADE I hate to tell you this, but Dodge parts are built at the Indy FORD plant and the Hemi's are made in Mexico. So your Dodge has a Ford steering part and a Mexican engine.  (Feb 26, 2007 | post #140)

Do you really know anyone that is happy with their pensions? Most people are lucky to have pensions since in time, the rest of us probably won't. You can tell your friends that they should be happy for what they have.  (Feb 26, 2007 | post #130)

Most people who like to union bash have never experienced the strength a union can have. Yes, union workers are paid well; yes, they have good benefits. Why are we bashing unions and the companies when the whole picture is about foriegn companies taking over the market due to people not supporting their own country's products. This whole argument has nothing to do with the union, but really it's about the overpaid corporate jerks making stupid decisions which are affecting our country and our futures.  (Feb 26, 2007 | post #129)
