Westboro Baptist Church coming to Holland

That would be a shame; but it wouldn't be the first time.  (Aug 9, 2012 | post #27)

Yeah they are, I've ridden with them on a few Rally's but no, I'm not a member. Based on the Facebook group invite page, there's going to be a sh!tload of riders there. I just feel it's my duty to be there in support; fellow Marine and growing-up in Holland and all. I'd like to think Gunny Price knows we got his six.  (Aug 9, 2012 | post #25)

What unit" Geez you're pathetic. This unit, this unit right here, this big fat, cheese-funk, 12 sandwich eating unit. I'll be there too on a red Triumph Bonneville, wearing a leather vest with Marine emblem on the back and a red 2nd Marine Division baseball cap. Stop by and say hi.  (Aug 9, 2012 | post #19)

Another GOP teabagger goes off the deep end

A post on Topix isn't the best venue to expound my thoughts and feelings on the subject. Tell ya what son, name the time and place; I'll be glad to sit down and discuss anything you like.  (Jul 23, 2012 | post #26)

Teabaggers Lose Again!

Ahh, the old 'class warfare' gambit. Let's be clear, I've got an advanced degree, I'm a mid-level executive, I've been a small business owner. And I've busted my ass to get where I am. Most of my friends/associates make at least 150k-500k per year and several of them are millionaires. They are not hurting, in fact they're going great. Do you care about the middle class? Because they are hurting...bad. And they are dissapearing. And I mean that as a straight-up question, do you really care? Personally I don't have an opnion, if we want them screwed, then fuck'em, survival of the fittest, they should've been born to better parents. This is West Michigan baby, the more sucessful i am the more Jesus loves me. It's all right there in the Protestant ethic. So don't give me that 'job creator' bullshit, you sound like a smart guy, we staff based on business levels, no more no less. As for your client with the tanning salon, did his start-up prospectus include basal cell carcinoma?  (Jul 3, 2012 | post #177)

Well a big part of that is the mandate, which is why the Republicans always thought it was a good idea, up until a few years ago that is. Part of it is tort reform, which the republicans wanted to include in the bill, and I was hoping they would include in the bill, but they never came to the dance. Part of it has been the Drug companies and insurance providers. You know there are more kids on ADHD medication in the Grand Rapids School District than there is in the entire fing county of France? I'm all for supply and demand, but when they are creating thier own demand, they're no better than a street corner crack dealer, oh except they sponsor a boner-pill car in NASCAR. The 500 lb Gorilla in the room is the changing demographics in our country, we're aging like mad. Social scientists knew this 40 years ago, but who's gonna listen to a bunch of eggheads, and no politician was/is going to say or do shit that upsets old white people.  (Jul 2, 2012 | post #165)

Well to start with the tax "penalty " is $95 for 2014; $325 for 2015; and $695 for 2016.... starting to see a trend upward, how high will it go, nobody knows yet. The "penalty " will be compared to income and you will pay the higher amount of 1% for 2014; 2% for 2015; 2.5% for 2016. Yep thats right since the majority of those who will be paying the penalty likely don't pay any federal tax to begin with I would say 2.5% of their income is a large increase in taxes. I bet these people will but health insurance from the exchanges then huh? And maybe stop going to the fing emergency room for the Flu? Currently you can deduct medical expenses that exceed 7.5% of your gross income, under "Obamacare " deductions must exceed 10% of income. This kind of sucks if i get really sick, but if that happens I'm screwed anyway. Most of my healthcare costs are premiums that are deducted from pre-tax income, and that's not going to change. The prior limit of contributing to Health FSA's was 5,000, it now goes down to $2,500. Yeah, I wish that mattered to me. I make good money, and can only afford to do about $1,500 per year anyway. If the government determines that your health insurance is too good you will pay a 40% excise tax starting in 2018 Have you read what constitutes a 'cadillac program'? Yeah this will suck for the 9 prople in this contry who have coverage like that. People with income over $200,000 will pay a .9% medicare surcharge on earned income and 3.8% medicare surcharge on unearned income. Yeah again, I should have this problem. Tell you what, you pay me a $220k base salary and I'll gladly pay the taxes on it. My ass is not exactly bleeding Buttermilk for my counterparts making $200k per year. Plus, if they don't know how to shelter thier income thier idiots to begin with. Tanning salons must pay a 10% excise tax. Yeah, good. Currently there is a 28% subsidy for employers who sponsor prescription drug cost, now they are going to force employees to lose the deduction for this plan if they take the subsidy, essentially taking away the incentive to provide coverage. So let's be clear on this one, coporations currently get my taxpayer money in the form of a medicade prescription drug coverage subsidy; and they are allowed to claim that subsidy as income and write it off on thier income statements. And soon they won't be able to double-dip the system because the healthcare law closes that loophole...Yeah again, my ass bleeds Buttermilk for them. Oh I forgot, corporations are people too.  (Jul 2, 2012 | post #164)

Wow, I wish the democrats were half as competent as your 'sinister mater plan' makes them out to be. And take it from someone who's been paying healthcare premiums for a long time, our healthcare system has been dying the death of a thousand cuts for decades.  (Jul 2, 2012 | post #161)

Do you know why during a late flight, a plane will sit on the tarmac for 9 hours instead of just taking off an hour late? It's because once a flight is more than about 45 minutes late it has to be be taken out of the flight schedule, you can't just 'slide' the rest of the schedule because crews and equipment can only be airborne for a certain amount of time after they've had a certain amount of sleep or down-time. It's basically a customer-service/p roduction control issue. If you try to bump out every flight, you'll start a domino effect and shut-down the entire airline in no time flat... Point is, do you really think Romney can repeal the healthcare law? If you do, you're deluding yourself. There will be so much infrastructure in place by the end of the year, it will be impossible to just hit the 'killswitch' without a shitload of governors (including many Republicians) saying 'hey, I spent a lot of money on these exchanges. Likewise a bunch of Insurance companies saying 'hey, we spent a lot of money on these exchanges'. Not to mention, it's now settled law. So he'll be left with trying to untagle it piece-meal and repeal 'parts' of it like...expanded Medicade coverage (no wait, old people like that part), or coverage for pre-existing conditions (oh wait, most of us like that), or no dropping someone because they get sick (oh wait, we ALL like that). All the while Insurance companies saying hey we need an individual mandate to pay for all of this, we're counting on millions more people buying health insurance. Sorry children, but the Little Engine that Could; well, that's just a story. In reality the little engine that could got slammed off the rails and obliterated by an 800k ton CSX freight train. So goes any idea that this done bun can be un-done. Three years ago I pleaded with any Republican that would listen, "we've all got a dog in this fight, you guys need to jump into the healthcare reform discussion". But no, they chose the Rush Limbaugh approach, sat on thier hands screaming about 'death panels', played obstructionist and prayed for failure. But that didn't happen. Then they prayed for a remedy in the courts, and that didn't happen. Now you think it's Mitt to the rescue and it'll be repealed? It's time for you to wake up. I think in the long-run the healthcare law will help stablize costs, but mabey I'm wrong. If it proves to be a boondoggle I'll be very pissed at the Democratic legislators that I helped vote into office. You should be very pissed at your Republican legislators who did...nothing.  (Jul 2, 2012 | post #159)

"With regards to the mandate, the individual responsibility program which I proposed, I was very pleased to see that the compromise from the two houses includes the personal responsibility principle. That is essential for bringing health care costs down for everyone and getting everybody the health insurance they deserve and need." Mitt Romney speaking in 2006  (Jun 28, 2012 | post #37)

Trayvon Martin gun range targets sold online

Thanks for your comments, although diametrically opposed to reality in every sence, they did provide some very fond memories of probably one of the best compliments i was ever paid. We (my fellow PMI's) were in Quantico firing the M40A1 on moving targets at 500m. General Livingston was on the base and behind the firing line as I put a round down range, my Spotter said "whoa that was money" as the target dissapeared into the butts, which was nice to hear in it's own right because frankly, my spotter was a few ticks better shot than me. The B-Mod rose back out of the butts, as the general peered down range thru bino's at the plotter stuck in it's neck, and said "Damn son, you're scary". One thing i am wondering about though is this opposum balls dish. I mean how many would it take to make a meal? I imagine they're pretty small, say just slightly larger than yours, and there's only two per. And actually if you figure maybe 10% of opposum's have an undecended testicle, that would be just one each for them. So...that would be like 30 opposums needed to make fried opposum balls. Seems like a lot of trouble...  (May 16, 2012 | post #15)
