Obama's chance to fix this thing?

One of the reasons you and many others might be confused is that you all keep assuming that "Tea Party" is a noun. It is a verb, and did we have a party on Tuesday night. Yah who !!!  (Nov 5, 2010 | post #22)

Obama's chance to fix this thing?

Estanson, based on your theory which I have to say is a sound one, help me understand then why the Democratic minions keep screaming we must tax the wealthy? If the Clinton's, Gore's and Obama's are among the wealthiest in the nation why would they even consider such a thing? Why not extend the tax breaks? why why why? I guess I just don't think like a socialist so I am confused what the devil they are trying to say.  (Nov 5, 2010 | post #21)

Which wolf to feed

Hawkeye your right it is far better to vote conscious than party and that is the way I have always approached it. Jeff mentioned that he could NOT vote for either Shumlin or Dubie and I just pointed out that a vote for Steele would take away votes for either of the other two guaranteeing one of them would win. I would never suggest anyone vote other than their conscious and by voting for Dubie I did just that, even though I did not feel he was an ideal candidate I could not stand the thought of Shumlin winning. Yet he did after all. Was that because of so many voting for Steele? We may never know.  (Nov 5, 2010 | post #23)

Leahy looks to beat anti-incumbent trend

Did he say how long the terms should be? maybe that is what has you confused. You took him to mean a reasonable number of terms. This is one race I am having a hard time getting a feel for. There are so many who want Leahy out but the Democratic Vt might just keep him in for another term. I guess Wed will tell us which it is to be.  (Nov 1, 2010 | post #2)

Williams sets meetings on biomass issue

Commonsense, I don't agree it is an all or nothing, Biomass or no coffee. That was a very simplistic view which helps no one. We have some very intelligent people in this world. They already know how to resolve the issue. It's just a matter of to whom it is the most important, and where the most dollars are to be made. It's never been whats best for us.  (Nov 1, 2010 | post #29)

New poll puts Shumlin in lead over Dubie

See you do have the capacity to make people smile. I knew I shouldn't believe all those bad things they say about you.  (Nov 1, 2010 | post #9)

Biomass project reception more positive at Fair Haven loc...

GMB: I don't have a solution, if I did I would run for public office. Nor can I speak for anyone else. Now that said...Personally I like solar and wind. The powers that be have priced it out of reach for most people. I have seen stats on how much I could save with solar over the long run. I am not going to live that long. It's a huge investment for a home to convert after it is built. Those with their hands in the wallets of the oil companies and the companies themselves don't want us to use alternate sources for obvious reasons. My only recourse is to use less. That my friend is the best choice we all have right now. Use less electricity, thereby there will be less coal, nuclear, etc. used to generate the electricity. How, do we become less dependent on foreign oil? Again use less, that one might not be so easy in rural vt., with minimal public transit and cold winters. But there must be ways you can see where you can reduce your usage. If only by a small amount. Multiply that by all of us and that could make an impact. I am not a NIMBY in the case of the Pownal incinerator issue. I do live in the town but far enough away so that the impact on me will probably be negligible. None the less I do not support this project for several reasons. Not the least of which is Beaver Woods themselves. They just don't feel trust worthy to me. There have been too many inconsistencies. Regardless, that is not my main reason, it is only one of them. This is why I oppose the incinerator in Pownal. There appears to be a good bit of information floating around out there indicating that this incinerator will cause health issues in the children who do live nearby. Sadly this may not be determined until after the incinerator is built and then it will be too late. These children's lives are worth more than a few jobs.  (Nov 1, 2010 | post #26)

Which wolf to feed

I apologize for posting off topic here but Jeff, with Dubie and Shumlin so close in the race a vote for Steele will be the same as a vote for one or the other of them. So you may not want to vote for them but you most certainly be helping them by voting for Steele.  (Nov 1, 2010 | post #12)

Your choice for governor effects a woman's right to choose

Prevention should be the focus as stated. Also our Reps need to be reminded that we are not putting them in office to further their own agendas but to represent ours. Then it is irrelevant how Dubie feels about abortion.  (Nov 1, 2010 | post #36)

Lawyer Cal. It has been proven in our history that when taxes are cut the economy benefits. How can you justify calling SS an entitlement? That is like telling me my savings account is an entitlement. Hog wash. Entitlements like welfare and free rides to the hairdresser paid for by hard working tax payers are entitlements. Hawkeye, I am sorry but the entire Rep ticket is not perfect nor without issues but sadly at this late in the game it is probably our best bet to get things turned around. Once in office if we keep their feet to the fire or throw them out at the next election we may be able to fix things. Changing faces for the sake of changing faces will only cause chaos. For each new face we need to allow a period of time for adjustment and learning the ropes. Once they hit their stride, removing them will serve no purpose.  (Nov 1, 2010 | post #26)

New poll puts Shumlin in lead over Dubie

Isn't that interesting Lady Vt. I haven't received a one and I am a registered Democrat. Maybe they decided to target the ones they felt they could bring on board and that registered Dems will naturally vote democratic. Sorry folks...Even Dems are sick of the Dems.
