Is the StarAdvertiser site down for any of you guys?

turns out it's the "new improved updated Safari" that won't load it - works fine in Firefox.  (Nov 20, 2010 | post #6)

Budget cuts eliminate post of HIV advocate - Hawaii News

Everyone that is in the hospital is supposed to be treated as if they have HIV/AIDs - even if they don't. In other words, they practice safe handling of all body fluids, including blood, and utensils (hypodermic needles, IVs, etc). It's called "Universal Precautions" - that way they can avoid privacy problems.  (Jan 4, 2010 | post #15)

Letters to the Editor - Hawaii Editorials

The President says he's not coming until the healh-care bill has passed, but the HAD says he'll be here on Thursday...guess that means it'll pass, no matter what. Wish he'd just stay away - this heath reform bill is bad news - especially for Medicare recipients and elderly requiring in-home care (which, by the way, is WAY cheaper than nursing home care). They're reducing payments for that, so what's going to happen? Probably more elderly out on the street, some dying before their time, because this great society doesn't give a rat's patootie that they're not cared for. Unconscionable.  (Dec 22, 2009 | post #14)

Letters to the Editor - Hawaii Editorials

Hey, way back when, we wanted 'convenience.' Well we got it - along with the trash it generates. When I was growing up, milk came in glass bottles. Reusable, renewable - and no poisons, etc. inside. It was from a local dairy, and the milk was awesome. Those dairies were replaced with huge dairy 'factories' using drugs to force their cows to produce more & more. Someone figured out how to refrigerate huge amounts of milk so it could be shipped all over the place, so no need local dairy farmers. This has been repeated in almost all industries, and the manufacturers are simply trying to satisfy an endless demand for more/better/cheape r/ food, goods & objects of enjoyment. Now that we've become the 'GIMME MORE NOW' society, well... we're reaping what we've sown - and there's no one to blame but ourselves. People have gotten more greedy, more demanding, more agitated, and more hard-hearted as time goes on. It's going to take more than 'recycling' to fix that, because it's a spiritual problem. Once we as individuals accept that & address it, by our actions this world will come into balance to be used as it was meant to be used. Then we can actually live out our lives in harmony with it & other living beings. God help us all.  (Oct 5, 2009 | post #22)

Tiare's in Kailua would put the Shack in Waikiki to shame with their strong-arm tactics. I know one of the bouncers & he LIVES to crack heads. I saw he & another bouncer beat a man while he was down & trying to get out of the bar after they shoved him. Soooo stupid.  (Jul 27, 2009 | post #81)

Terry Ann Yamamoto, it depends upon who's telling the story as to exactly how much within (or without) budget the Rail is. My hope is that every so-called tree hugger & Native Hawaiian sues the heck out of the C&C to keep this tax hell-hole rail from existing - especially in this dire economical climate.  (Jul 25, 2009 | post #1)
