Leaving kids alone in car draws penalty

A Father's Day wish from a tutu kane.. Your keiki is your most cherished posession. Guide him with wisdom, love and forever be vigilant of the unexpected. This is your mandate.  (Jun 14, 2008 | post #1)

Vandalism elicits outrage and action

As I grow older, I realize that moving to the mainland was one of my better decisions. I retired in 1996 and left Hawai'i in August. As I regularly use the internet to read about Hawai'i, I am saddened by the increasing vandalism, inhumane behaviors, and lack of respect for authority.(witness the negative and often irresponsible comments by posters) AUWAE!!!  (Jun 13, 2008 | post #19)

Under the Sun: Agree to call Obama hapa?

Reply to Tama Samoa's comments on Obama's 'lack of experience' and 'not going to Iraq'. 1. The U.S. Constitution mandated that each state will have two senators. The one with MORE SENIORITY is obviously called the 'senior senator' and the younger, the 'junior'. As a junior senator, one is not seated on one of the more prestigious committees which are often in the media's limelight.(i.e. Armed Services, Foreign Relations, Ways and Means, etc.)Thus, Obama DOES NOT HAVE THE OPPORTNITY TO 'SHINE' PER THE MEDIA. 2. The Military in Iraq will do their UTMOST to prevent ANY POLITICAL VISITOR from being harmed. Thus obviously will NOT give the visitor a reality check of 'harm's way'. ( I am a former Infantryman in the U.S.Army in the '50s)  (Jun 12, 2008 | post #76)

Lingle ready to back McCain

And you can justify the Bush manipulation of the geo-political realities as conducive to our national and international reputation. Please be factual and cogent. McCain may be the 'same old, same old Republican politician'. CHANGE TO SURVIVE!!  (Jun 7, 2008 | post #130)

Lingle ready to back McCain

Reality check- And are you able to justify the fall out of the Bush Administration's attempts to manipulate geo-political history with critical thinking sans opinions?  (Jun 7, 2008 | post #129)

Lingle ready to back McCain

Reality check- Republican Lingle is NOT A HAWAIIAN. Like many caucasians and other ethnic groups, she 'transplanted' to the Hawaiian Islands from one of the other forty nine states.  (Jun 7, 2008 | post #128)

Royal Hawaiian closing for 7 months

Reply to Sarah As a University of Hawaii graduate student in the late '60s, I was a bellman at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. The bell staff wore the baby blue with white pipen sripe jackets. We had brass buttons and also wore white pants with a blue stripe down the sides. There were family cottages on Kalia Road and you can see the seashore from Kalakaua Ave! It was a more genteel era.  (Jun 1, 2008 | post #5)

Dentist admits ties with prostitution ring

Only ONE county in Nevada legalized prostitution. It's NOT legalized in Clark County where Las Vegas is located. I was a resident of Clark County for 6 years.  (Jun 1, 2008 | post #31)

I have the fortunate experience of knowing two former principals of Waikea High- Danford Sakai formerly of Kaiser High School of Hawaii Kai and Judith Saranchock, D.Ed., the District Superintendent of Ka'u District. Both are excellent educators!  (May 20, 2008 | post #1)
