Atheism requires as much faith as religion?

Atheists lack belief in a god or gods. This does not require faith. The "Belief that there is no Deity or Deities," as you put it, doesn't require faith. The lack of evidence performs quite nicely in that regard.  (Jan 31, 2013 | post #151085)

"Science vs. Religion: What Scientists Really Think"

Do you have any evidence of this? Besides being offensive, it sounds rather far fetched to me.  (Jan 31, 2013 | post #13833)

Atheism requires as much faith as religion?

Not to be rude, but the very question is ridiculous. It's like saying, "It takes a lot of faith to have no faith at all." It just doesn't make sense. I would dare go so far as to say modern Atheism is the very antithesis of faith, requiring evidence before believing anything. This is where religion is left unarmed; there is no real evidence for any of them. Faith is required despite it's lack of reliability and substance. I've heard it argued that faith itself is substance, that one's faith is evidence. This seems to me like nothing more than a way of perpetuating an idea, regardless of whether that idea is true.  (Jan 30, 2013 | post #151037)
