Tribe, Hafner strike a deal

ken, you are nuts. injuries????? what, like c.c.'s elbow? his shoulder? no, it's all been ticky tack injuries that have only kept him out of a handful of games here and there. the guy has the physique to be a hard thrower for a long time. he could pitch into his 40's like clemens, wells and schilling. when he blows out his rotator cuff talk to me about injuries then because i'm not going to sweat the abdominal strains and other minor injuries c.c. has had. to hell with paying a d.h. with a bum elbow that kind of scratch.  (Jul 13, 2007 | post #14)

Tribe, Hafner strike a deal

i would have been happy if hafner had left in free agency so the team could pay c.c. sabathia is going to get 20 mil a year somewhere and it's probably not going to be in cleveland.  (Jul 13, 2007 | post #7)

Cavs' Varejao gets hefty contract offer

let the flopper go. i'm all for getting mo pete and maybe even finding a way to pry calderon from the raptors. maybe if the cavs could make an open jumnp shot they wouldn't need all that rebounding.  (Jul 3, 2007 | post #12)

Oden drafted No. 1

danny ainge continues to play the role of dumbest g.m. in the nba. if i'm a sonics fan i'm pretty happy to unload ray allen. rashard lewis will be resigned and the team has quite a bit of young talent.  (Jun 29, 2007 | post #3)

Tribe can never be just as it was in '90s

cleveland is a town loaded with idiots. the fans support the browns through anything when they never deserved to be brought back in the first place. that team shouldn't outdraw a high school football game. people cry about dolan being cheap but at least the team is in contention. i never heard people cry about rat modell being cheap when his big free agent signing was andre freaking rison or that the stadium was rotted shell of a venue but modell wanted the taxpayers to pay for a new one when he pocketed every penny spent there through the stadium corp. i still love the cleveland teams that deserve it. and i would love to see the tribe play but i had to choose personal sanity over sports fanaticism. therefore, cleveland is now a skidmark in the underwear of my memory. hey cleveland, the browns are dead. the colors and tradition went to cincinatti and the corpse went to baltimore. the team called the browns today has the soul of a blow-up doll. go tribe!  (Jun 26, 2007 | post #27)

Sabathia stumbles

i think we all saw what happened to grady little in boston. when c.c. gives up that first double you go to the pen. simple as that. wedge is an awful strategic manager. hell, the guy is an awful manager period. remember when he started managing and the indians were planning to be a solid defensive team that plays "small ball". well, they can't bunt to save their lives. if it wasn't for barfield and sizemore they would be completely inept in the field. and instead of moving runners they do the best imitation of earl weaver ball they can. does shapiro share in the blame? sure he does. his "partnership " with wedge is his biggest weakness. here's to hoping buck showalter takes over before we are forced to watch wedge do his best mike brown/romeo crennel imitations in the playoffs. because this team is too good to let a manager lose games.  (Jun 16, 2007 | post #4)

Anderson shows poise with starters

this is a 6 win team max. the browns would have been smart to get a veteran qb from somewhere. but hey, this is the browns we're talking about.  (Jun 15, 2007 | post #3)

Rally defused by unusual call in ninth

what????? and go back to the cookie cutter stadium days? sure pete, i'm with you. let's rob baseball of it's charm. ebbets field would have been better had it looked like old fulton county stadium in atlanta. let's also cover all the fields and maintain equal barometric pressure and eliminate pesky things like sunshine and breezes. the ivy at wrigley would look better ripped out and plastered with beer ads. why stop at the field? there should be a dress code for all the fans who attend the game. they should be in uniform like the players depending on the team for which they are rooting. and one standard squirt of stadium mustard per hot dog!  (May 29, 2007 | post #12)

No calls, no chance

hey josh, it doesn't matter if sideshow bob got hit on that play. the dude is a flopper and floppers don't get the call when they need them. in my list i forgot to add 5. poor clock management on the last possession. brown should have had the cavs attack the hoop right off the bat instead of waiting so they could get another crack at it. this is a minor issue since they had three shots at the basket and laura can't hit the first shot in the game of around the world.  (May 25, 2007 | post #54)

No calls, no chance

i've got no problem with the way lebron played in this game. the things i saw that helped the cavs lose 1. poor substitutions by potato brown. why he chose to go back to the line-up that wasn't working in the 3rd quarter only god knows. the line-up with the shooters was working well. dj, gibson and donyell was a nice change that took advantage of the wide open shots detroit was willing to give the cavs. 2. five turnovers in a row (not 4 as the article states). add a couple horrific passes by lebron along the baseline in the mix and it's going to be a challenge to win. 3. when the breeze hits varejao just right he flops. it's no wonder he didn't get the call on sheed. sideshow bob is the second coming of vlade divac and it's sickening to watch. the man has talent and a gift for taking a charge but the flopping act is getting tired and the refs obviously weren't feeling it either. 4. laura hughes. he has no place in mike brown's non-existent offensive scheme. and he can't hit the open 7 footer. the cavs looked a lot better with him on the pine. on a positive note, the defense is really excellent. if only potato were just an assistant and the head coach could be someone who can draw simple inbounds plays and understands offensive movement.  (May 25, 2007 | post #41)

Tribe reverses early lead by Reds

no doubt matt. but don't forget that hargrove had brian anderson and mike jackson killing hitters yet he chose to go with mesa in the 9th. one thing that worries me with this years team is that wedge isn't even at hargrove's level as manager. hopefully the starters and the offense will minimize the number of tough decisions wedge has to make.  (May 19, 2007 | post #6)
