Rome legion's M3 Stuart Tank

The barrel is rifled. The breech is welded closed, so there will be no firing. The engine is in tact but inoperable, so it is not drivable. Under TACOM strict regulations, Static display loan lease tanks cannot be operational at all. The Legion does NOT own that tank. Its owned by TACOM. It never should have looked as bad as it did being that Tacom does yearly Updates on these things, but this one fell through the cracks at some point. I'm proud and glad we undertook the project and wish nothing but the best for the legion in the future. I have moved on to other projects. And will begin working on an M60 Patton Tank soon. decals were the posts doing. I had full plans of doing stencils and was even going to have "black knight" Stenciled on the sponson. My plans were cast aside and the legion did what they wanted too. My work is finished. near the end it became more of headache than it was worth because too many chiefs not enough Indians. Thats The reason I don't join posts, and I definitely dont get involved with the boards. Good luck to you legionnaires in the future. I hope the tank never goes to waste again.  (Nov 15, 2014 | post #168)

Caught in your own bull. My original response to your asking if it was finished. "If you had to guess. "Really" Using your common sense would you say its been finished?" No where in there does it say its finished. It asks you if you think its finished. Becasue it isn't. you ask about money.... I return the question, WHAT MONEY? there never was any. I didn't receive a dime for this project. all expenses were paid for out of my pocket, my associates pockets and some out of pocket expenses from the legion. all receipts are with your command. The whole point is don't start rumors, Its not fair to me, the legion or even yourself. gather information before you post some crazy stuff you have no idea what your talking about. As of today the tank has scaffold around it, is still covered by a tarp, and we are scheduled to paint it this week. get in on the project if you want to know whats going on. volunteer to help paint. Need a lot of work done on the track end connectors.  (Oct 14, 2014 | post #160)

Really. you really don't know what you're talking about. My point is its not finished. Yeah it is primer you saw. we are painting it at the legion. It was only moved to do mechanical maintenance. Just wait. you will see it finished soon enough. for now keep your comments that have no factual basis to yourself. All you are doing is spreading rumors. And if you are a card holder..... perhaps you should talk to your post commander to get up to date FACTUAL information.  (Oct 12, 2014 | post #156)

No one in the legion will get credit for this project nor will Riley? It was conducted by USABOT under my direction. I will be credited with the restoration.  (Oct 8, 2014 | post #145)

You should not listen to people. And ask sources. I am the restorer, and the project is not finished yet. Still have to paint. Its only primed. LMAO. I love the rumor mill.  (Oct 7, 2014 | post #142)

Actually, Yes i do believe people will take interest and my email inbox is living proof. Since the story was published and aired, I get daily emails from people all over the area interested in donating time, resources, and materials. I Don't think we're going to get it running, however if you would re-read one of my above posts you would see that I accounted for the costs. Such as moving the thing. Do know of a cheap way to move 16 tons? No! OK shut up then. let me figure that out. Can You design and fabricate All of the missing components....Or do you even know that there are missing components on the M3? Oh probably not because instead of taking the time to learn about the tank and maybe help out, you would rather be a keyboard warrior, and sit there in your chair to ridicule and criticize me. Simple fact is, I'm not even from Rome, I couldn't care less for city, I don't give a shit about the Legion. I don't care about the publicity, the small local celebrity status I've seemed to have gained Or any other faucet of Bullshit. What matters to me is the tank. It means a lot to me as a SOLDIER, A VETERAN, And a TANKER. The monument itself is all I care about. But i figured While i was on this journey It would be a great way to get anyone from the community interested in tanks a chance to actually work on one. See it up close, And maybe instill a sense of pride into the area. So Sit back in your chair relax a little and let this Tanker show you how its done. We Shoot Move and communicate, DEATH BEFORE DISMOUNT! CARRY ON.  (Nov 13, 2013 | post #29)

That is precisely why my organization, the US army brotherhood of tankers is stepping in...Men who have worked on tanks and have that knowledge so we can repair to standard. As for the price its going to be a full restore, Its going to cost quite a bit, There are a lot of damaged or missing parts. The tube needs a good punch, and cleaning, The interior is rotted. Parts of the exterior need to be fabricated, welded, cleaned, and painted. And the logistics are going to cost, I cant sand blast in the open. I need an enclosed location. I have received donations of many tools and paints, that took a large chunk out of the cost. I'm now looking at anywhere between 10k and 20k, That price included the replacement parts, moving the vehicle, And a few other surprises we are working on. If you don't want to help out on this project that is fine. but do not ridicule me for doing it, Like i said in an earlier post, "If not Me, who. if not now, when".  (Nov 8, 2013 | post #23)
