Expressing thanks to Bemis Associates, LHS jazz band - Sentinel...
How nice of Mrs. Piermarini! The J **** band as well as the entire Leominster music dept has come a long way in the last ten years,it's finally something that our community can really be proud of again! and this is coming from the former LHS band president '98. That teacher up there is really doing an outstanding job and kudos should also go to the past music teachers at all levels of the system for stressing the feeder program and preparing them for the high school. I find this wicked cool, thank god there are still some folks around that appreciate Jazz and those taken on the arduous task of keeping it alive by learning it!Thanks. (Sunday Dec 6 | post #1)
Unitil, Ansin honored for Longsjo support - Sentinel & Enterprise
Actually, though I don't like to judge, some might view what's pathetic is an anonymous individual making personal attacks on one willing to expose his identity for a cause benefiting the greater good.More than that, you do seem to be in support of unitil, which is popularly unpopular. We might be missing the point here though guys,it's about Gantzy!Where was he for Longsjo??? (Sunday Dec 6 | post #12)
Unitil, Ansin honored for Longsjo support - Sentinel & Enterprise
Why attack Dennis? The vast majority of unitil victims hate unitil, same goes for most that read these comments...just makes unitil appear even worse. Dennis, who is "Newton" ? I agree,Gantzy is paid to be the face of every unitil failure, what a career that must be! Where was the gracious arroGantz for this year's Longsjo anyways? (Saturday Dec 5 | post #9)
Mass. governor signs utility legislation - Sentinel & Enterprise
I asked Speaker DeLeo at Dinatale's fundraising event at Slattery a couple months back what he thought of the muni bill and he was not in support of it.I don't know if anyone would argue that here in Mass, what the Speaker wants he gets and he doesn't seem to want the muni legislation to pass,at least not during this session. Maybe if DeLeo heard directly from more constituents in favor of the muni bills he might change his mind. http://vids.myspac e.com/index.cfm?fu seaction=vids.indi vidual&videoid =100626487 (Nov 14, 2009 | post #53)

Unitil wants to put ice-storm bill on hold - Sentinel & Enterprise
one may buy oranges at a local farm stand, farmers market,or order them online and there are hundred of mechanic shops to choose from in the area. MGL 164 gives investor owned utilities veto power over any entity willing to buy infrastructure, reg ardless of DPU or state involvement. Leaving communities no choice but be subjected to the incumbent monopolizer. The muni bills will solve this problem www.massmunichoice .com http://vids.myspac e.com/index.cfm?fu seaction=vids.indi vidual&VideoID =63208045 unitil was not the only I.O.U. that had massive damage...ir was the only one that had thousands without power for two weeks though... Pub's liquor license suspended - Sentinel & Enterprise
Who owns Christopher's? get a camcorder on the place and webcast it,maybe photos in the local press and a plan to raise the awareness of the ABC and local pols to the habitually offending nature of this business. Photos and record of LPD member's coming and going wouldn't hurt either. People must take a stand to curb corruption or we have no choice but witness our communities deteriorate, the fault lies with you and I if we do nothing. (Sep 22, 2009 | post #37)
Not happy about broken, old utility poles lingering - Sentinel ...
its the DPU here in MA not the PUC,that's NH. Call the DPU,say you're with the press or media... and ask to speak with Tim Shevlin about unitil, you'll get through...I.O.U.s hate it when complaints are logged with the DPU as they don't report all the small stuff like a few neighborhoods experiencing an outage for less than a couple hours or infrastructure inadequacies ,if residents dont complain, there's no way for DPU to know.Though the DPU has proven ineffective in it's job of balancing the needs of ratepayers and I.O.U.s,it's the only thing ratepayers can really do right now.We are in for a bad winter and unitil has not done the maintenance required to guard against more major outages, though now everyone is well aware of unitil's incompetence and this will prove to only exacerbate unitil's dire situation and get them out of here all the quicker...so in the interest of public safety I may agree with the author, though on the topic of getting rid of unitil,I say bring winter on and let it be a merciless one at that. Unitil officials say utility prepared for potential disaster - ...
unitil is an investor owned utility, hardly public as most are institutional, and has provided the highest rates in MA since 06 www.massmunichoice .com,(munis are non profit, truly owned by the community they serve as all revenues go back into that community and not Schoenberg's pocket.) Which would mean those subjected to unitil's monopoly would be paying the 4th highest rates in the U.S.,including Hawaii and Alaska.2nd highest in the continental U.S.,yet it is the smallest I.O.U. in MA (and victimizes Fitchburg, one of the state's poorest communities.) The unitil has passed, the muni bills will eventually pass and sooner than later unitil will be replaced by munis. http://vids.myspac e.com/index.cfm?fu seaction=vids.indi vidual&VideoID =63208045 (Sep 21, 2009 | post #20)

Town could oust Unitil - Sentinel & Enterprise
...with the passing of the Muni Bill there would be allowed 3 communities in Mass per year to assess the fair market value of the existing utility infrastructure, purchase at fmv and form a new municipal electric.I think the idea is single municipal electric non profits though and not multiple municipal electrics.Ashby is small enough to be served by a Fitchburg muni or a Townsend muni. Not so with the other 3 communities currently victimized by unitil.Fitchburg,Lunenburg and Townsend/Ashby might be best served by their own individual munis in a future ice storm. With specialized employees that could intimately know every inch of their communities electric infrastructure. Senate bill would levy stiff fines for failure to respond to ou...
The unfortunate thing may be not enough attention is being paid the muni bills due to IOU lobbyists and unions. This bill is progress, though the path it sets us on is a long one and at the end, will still leave us with another IOU, ie;NGrid or (god forbid) Western Mass Electric.I think our legislature is doing its best if I neglect the existence of the muni bills.Fear of union and IOU propaganda injuring pols popularity and potential re-election might prevent them from doing their job come 9/9/09,when the muni bills new draft hit the house floor.
