Enrollment still dropping

Actually Sherry, I do not belong to the board of education and am against most of their decisions. I did not confuse anything, I made a statement. Parents have been taking their children out of the Carrollton district because of sports, amung many other reasons. I am a graduate of the system. The year I graduated our guys went to state on the football team. They had barely been played before that. A few years after graduation I learned that parents started transferring to Sandy Valley, Malvern, Minerva and other aligning districts so that their boys would be given the opportunity to play and possibly shine. This is just an example.  (Sep 17, 2008 | post #5)

Trees down/power outage

I noticed this morning that with limbs down etc throughout the village of carrollton, the street department is not taking the limbs, but moving the limbs to the yards of the home owners. Last year when we had an awful storm and tons of limbs down, the same thing was done. Why is the acceptible not to have their own chipper to go about gathering and using the fallen limbs for another cause?  (Sep 15, 2008 | post #1)

Unfortunately Sherry, you inadvertanly attacked in your message. Who are you to pass judgement if someone is "undereducate d" or "underenlight ened" Maybe people see the face value and say no. No more money, I can barely make it now. And on the other hand, you have the people that say, nothing but the best for MY child, yes, yes to the levy. You brought up the issue, but remember, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and its not neccessarily yours. GOD BLESS AMERICA!  (Sep 15, 2008 | post #20)

I'm sorry, but if you take your child out because of a sport, what good are you honestly doing them, proving your point.  (Sep 15, 2008 | post #3)

Yes, CHS 1977 I have been in the halls of Bell-Herron during a class change. And there were no "shifts" when I was there and it was within the last 10 years. I admit, it was pandemonium around the halls. Honestly though, what is $30 a month to you? For me, it could be gas to work, my cell phone (because god knows people don't help others like they used to), insurance, because you have to insure everything... my grocery bill, because I have to eat, as I am not on welfare.... and so on and so forth.  (Sep 10, 2008 | post #8)

Obviously someone is mad they will be out of a job soon. This is not a "freedom ". This is a trap for people to get into and not be able to get out of easily. There are things that you can cut back on in this day and age that you do not "need". You need food, clothing and shelter. That is all. It's common sense that you will not have these needs met trying to make it on your own working at McDonalds.  (Sep 10, 2008 | post #3)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the facilities. All need maintenance yes. Just like your home does. Though, I was walking past my alma mater one evening during the summer while school was out to see air conditioners running in odd windows. I wouldn't be against putting air in the facilities. There has to be another way than to tear it down. Bottom line, whether the state "gives" us anything or not, taxes will still be raised and we will still have to pay.  (Aug 29, 2008 | post #6)

Enlighten me as to how anything involving the MRDD involves the "community "....? Because I'm certainly not using the facility, nor is any other family memember of mine.  (Aug 28, 2008 | post #7)

I'm sorry, did I read this wrong, but do her "gifted" students belong at the MR/DD facility instead of the high school? Though placing those students within the system is a novel concept, it just doesn't work. Students are cruel and unacceptive.  (Aug 27, 2008 | post #1)

"It was explained to the operator who answered that Carrollton is located in the middle of the other stores in the tri-county regional area. Canton, New Philadelphia and Steubenville are all located about 40 minutes from Carrollton." This is a bunch of bull pucky. The nearest speedway is less than 12 miles away AND is 20-30 cents less most days. I understand that it is on the edge of stark county, however it is still less than 40 minutes!! That is true about groceries. Thornes slapped on the name "market place" and jacked up their prices. Though I'm sure the "market place" had nothing to do with the title: Dollar General Market.....  (Aug 27, 2008 | post #3)

The school is digging their own hole right now. While most county residents have to travel outside of the county for work, due to not wanting to make minimum wage, the administration are highly paid, with premium college educations and yet, cannot find a way to make it all work. Lets just shut down more schools and sell them to the Amish. Yes, that's what'll make people say yes to their levy's.  (Aug 27, 2008 | post #3)
