New City Manager

Our new city manager needs to be available to the citizens of Colorado City. Currently he is only available to a select few of the city council. Birds of a feather flock together. Don't get off on the wrong foot with the citizens by shutting us out. When we go to our councilman or woman with any issue, it should at least be discussed by the council and even voted on if it comes to that point. When it takes a meeting of a majority to get an item on the agenda, it seems that the open meetings act is being spit on. If you all have to meet in secret to decide if something can even be on the agenda, you are defeating what this act is about. I hope that the city takes heed and begins to operate openly and effectively. If we want to move forward as a city, we have to be open and honest with ourselves first. When businesses look at the way we have functioned and are still functioning, it is going to be difficult to attract them in a positive manner. Let's move forward!!!  (Jul 6, 2012 | post #9)

Keith Hiser, city councilman

I don't understand why we have elected city council members and a mayor. We have proven with our last city council meeting that we are only allowing our city manager to make the decisions. Any constituent should be able to talk to their councilman or woman about issues and have them brought up for discussion and a vote. What a select few told us as citizens, is that we have to make it their idea if we want something in this city to come before the council. I have one thing to say about that. Wait until your turn comes up for re-election. Maybe we can get our topics brought up for discussion if you aren't a part of the process!  (Jul 6, 2012 | post #26)
