Had a taste for ribs...

I know you wouldn't normally go to an Italian restaurant for ribs but try Bartolinis ribs once. They are fall of the bone meat like Portillos but the sauce has a little heat to it, and there is more meat than Portillos too. The cole slaw was really good, different than what I'm used to.  (Jul 10, 2014 | post #5)

While driving on 147th yesterday I noticed one of the stores on the south side has writing in the window about a motorcycle shop coming soon. I hope it works out. It'll be nice to have that kind of business back in town again. Good luck to them.  (Mar 30, 2014 | post #17)

WP, I was cleaning up the bike and found that our troll spray works good for degreasing parts and removes rust too. Nothing makes you feel better than a shining bike.  (Mar 28, 2014 | post #9)

Good Morning Friends, having high hopes for spring arriving soon and that the battery in my motorcycle didn't freeze up this winter. I can't wait much longer.  (Mar 28, 2014 | post #5)

And here we have the changes not necessarily for the better. Rules are more important than people. Even the people that enforced the rules realized they didn't work for people, and chose not to. If midlo wanted to have a workable ordinance about not parking cars on the street they should have started at the beginning with an ordinance that all driveways had to be built 2 cars wide so they could be used like a parking lot. Real people in real families have young people getting home late from work and mom and or dad have to get up early to go to work. When my children were young and living at home we had 5 drivers and vehicles at the same time. The ordinances were made caring nothing about the people of the town. And the people in charge realized it didn't work and ignored the ordinance. Our street was plowed 4 feet away from the curb, about 2 feet short of having a car parked there anyway. Not a problem I just cleaned up the street in front of my house. I'd rather work together with the PW than complain. But the village would rather complain in the form of a ticket. That's just powerful people flexing their muscles. Talking about rules instead of people. People of midlo welcome to the age of bureaucracy.  (Jan 4, 2014 | post #57)

Been lucky", no not necessarily. "Not because things have changed", you've got to be kidding me. You obviously know less than your name implies. As others have pointed out enforcement is not evenly distributed, and things are definitely changing. And now someone who Knows More is telling me that in order to protect our cars from being vandalized and broken into they are throwing tickets on them. Are we supposed to be grateful? As I said from the beginning, just let it make sense, if you obstruct a snow plow get a ticket. If not, no harm no foul. Use a little common sense not power.  (Jan 3, 2014 | post #47)

Exactly right. That was the beginning of the end. When I looked at the fact that I was turning into one of you I decided to quit. As you can see, I'm still capable of being drawn down to your level, I'm just not proud of myself when I let it happen. So continue on with your infantile hair pulling ways and the rest of us will sit silently and laugh at you. Carry on.  (Dec 20, 2013 | post #27)

Knowing the posters on topix never used to be a problem. We used to seek each other out and introduce ourselves. At one of the functions on the village green we decided to wear a paperclip on our collar so we could be identified so others would introduce themselves. The problem with the older registered posters is that there are no more respectful discussions and debates on here which is what we used to enjoy coming here to be a part of. Just as a example, the post about the money missing. That would still be a big topic on here in the past but now, almost nothing. Everything today seems to be about attacking individuals, not discussing what's going on. I'm not putting down the new generation on here for what they enjoy doing, they have the right to do what ever they want on here like we used to. We just choose not to become a part of the new style of posting that has taken over. Most of us are still as addicted as we ever were and come to read the posts often but we just observe and watch the new generation do what they like.  (Dec 20, 2013 | post #23)

I had the ribs and I wasn't impressed. Portillios and Bartos both have ribs that are tender and fall off the bone. The ribs from here were tough. I will go back and try other items from the menu but for ribs I'll go to either of the other 2 places.  (Aug 26, 2013 | post #14)

People probably know the answer but are afraid that they can't spell Bacharach if I even spelled it right. The song was Rock and Roll Lullaby by Burt what's his name. Just waiting for me like a secret friend, and there's no end  (Aug 7, 2013 | post #102)
