If you don't believe in GOD, why do you celebrate Christm...

Christmas has become kind of like two holidays in one. A secular holiday for non Christians to celebrate and a religious one for Christians to honor the 'birth' of Christ with secular and commercialized influences (Santa, presents, ect,.). I'm Catholic and growing up, I believed in Santa, got presents and all that good stuff but my parents still made sure to remind me that Christmas isn't all about getting presents but the significance of Jesus' sacrifice, honoring His birth, and spending time with family. We never missed a Christmas mass either, heck even the Christians who only came to church 3 or 4 times a year always make it to the Christmas mass (hence why they're called holiday Christians). So I wouldn't say Christmas completely lost its meaning because to the people it means the most to (Christians) we still honor and acknowledge Jesus. Christmas is a public holiday and Santa sells to EVERYONE (Christians and non Christians alike). As for atheists celebrating Christmas? Could care less as they most likely celebrate the secular commercialized Christmas that has nothing to do with Jesus at all but I will admit that I can't help but feel irked that even the most radical atheists that go out of their way to speak ill of Christianity and Christians the other 364 days of the year celebrate a holiday whose origins stem from the religion they express venom and hatred towards any other day (credit for Christmas also given to Pagans, but historically Christians adopted it). It's kinda hypocritical to me. You'd think they'd not celebrate it all together. But whatever.  (Jan 8, 2013 | post #99)

I'm not BLACK I'm Creole

If you're going to disagree with me whatever but don't drag ALL Dominicans down because that just shows your true ignorance. I'm an individual just like you are. And I'm speaking from experience. I've seen some AA (not all) talk real nasty about Africans or Haitians and you cannot tell me that what I've experienced is wrong because they're my own experiences. Dominicans don't associate w/ AA or other black people? Not true. Come to NYC.  (Aug 6, 2012 | post #319)

I'm not BLACK I'm Creole

I've been saying this forever! 1000% Cosign! As a Dominican American in NYC, I've always acknowledged my African roots, but I'd never call myself African American and this seemed to upset some AA as they seemed to think that since I might look like some of them, I should only identify with their culture and since I identified with another, some registered that as me trying to be something I'm not or selling out (?). I know I'm of African descent, I don't need anyone telling me who I am, but I can't claim AA just like AA or Trinis can't claim to be Dominican. Simple as that. And AA do claim certain people and reject others. I've seen first hand how nasty some AA can get when it comes to Africa, West Africans, Haitians or other Caribbean groups and how they mostly disassociate themselves with them. Yet they stay pressed and pop blood vessels trying to claim Boricuas, Dominicans (many of whom are multiracial and not just black) and American biracials as their own. Trust me, that's no coincidence. And they say WE'RE the ones with race/color complexes. SMH.  (Aug 4, 2012 | post #198)

What Do You Think About The Afro-Latina Struggle Being Bo...

Hispanics and Blacks will always be here. Don't like it then you can go back to Europe. -.-  (Jan 5, 2012 | post #11)

What Do You Think About The Afro-Latina Struggle Being Bo...

I'm Afro Latina (Dominican) and all my life it's either been, I'm not 'latin' enough to hang with the other Latinos or I'm not 'black' enough to chill with AAs. I feel rejection on by sides.  (Jan 5, 2012 | post #7)

Black women and Latinas do you prefer very dark skin guys?

No, I prefer caramel or light skin guys.  (Jan 4, 2012 | post #18)

Do you prefer your man older or younger than you

I prefer older guys. They're mature and experienced. I might consider dating a guy maybe 1, 2, or 3 years younger than me, but that is how far I'll go. And at the end of the day, I still prefer to date someone older than me.  (Jan 4, 2012 | post #13)

US Politics

Bachmann Ending Presidential Run

LMAO! Your point? Why would anyone hate on Palin and Bachmann? Especially in the looks department. LOL! Seriously though, I'm not hating on anyone. I don't agree with their 'politics'.  (Jan 4, 2012 | post #487)

Do Dominicans want to be White!

I'm Dominican and I've NEVER wanted to be white. I'm proud of my heritage. What is your obsession with Dominicans?  (Jan 4, 2012 | post #21)

Bachmann Ending Presidential Run

I guess she realized that nobody in their right mind would take her seriously. But at least she pushed airhead Palin out of the spotlight. ^.^  (Jan 4, 2012 | post #481)

Are Dominicans white or Black ?

First of all, 'dominican' isn't a race, it's a nationality/ethnic ity. There are white dominicans, black dominicans, but the majority of dominicans are of mixed race and we can trace our bloodlines back to Africa, Spain/Europe, and the pre-columbian island of Hispaniola.  (Jan 4, 2012 | post #773)

Wm who have Biracial kids getting angry cus the kid look...

If a white person reproduces with a black person, I don't know wtf they were expecting when their kid comes out with dark skin (compared to them), kinky hair, and ethnic features. If you want white children then marry and have children with white people. Simple. Many people say children who have white fathers and black mothers come out looking like they can pass for white, but I've seen differently. They don't look any different from WW/BM biracial children.  (Jan 3, 2012 | post #154)
