What Jehovah's Witness beleive.

I swear to you that I am not being sarcastic at all when I say this, but you need to study everything you can about the original transcripts of the Bible, different translations, etc. Its very interesting, I think you'd really enjoy it. Not many have an interest in it although I don't know why. I want to know anything and everything that pertains to Christ. The more you learn, the more you want to learn, the more your eyes and mind are opened to things you would have never thought about before. Like, I said, its really interesting. And a must do before you hang your salvation on some other persons interpretation of what is the "right" way, or the only way. Anyhoo, The original meaning in Matt 5:5 was "the land" instead of "the earth" as it is now. Some people say it means New Jerusalem, I heard a pastor say multiple times that it meant the land of Canaan, not so sure about that, some ,of course, believe it means Heaven. Especially since 2 verses before, Matt 5:3 says we'll inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. But I do know that it doesn't specify an elitist group, it pertains to all who are saved. Do Jehovah's Witnesses believe in New Jerusalem? Is that taught?  (Oct 27, 2011 | post #59)

Something really cool about Psalms is that some of them are a certain kind of poem that the first verse is written using the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet and each verse thereafter using each letter until they reached the end of the alphabet. Like Always do your best But never cheat Call upon the Lord Deliverance is yours...Only in Hebrew. I think this psalm is one of those......Yep, it is.I just looked it up. Anyway! David was a Jew, as were the rest of the authors, not Christians, so you have to read Psalms in that mindset. In my opinion, that verse, Psalms 37:29, the righteous people (Jews), would get their land, and keep their land, forever. Its not a prediction, nor a promise from God. Its a prayer or peom written by David.  (Oct 25, 2011 | post #50)

Well alrighty then. But be prepared. I've studied the Bible and everything pertaining to Christianity for half my life, and I love Psalms. You should already know that it is a book of hymns, poems and prayers written by various authors. I think David wrote around 75 of them, Solomon wrote a couple and Moses, I forget the rest the names of the men, many were anonymous too. Anyway, let me read the Psalm quickly and I'll get back with you.  (Oct 25, 2011 | post #49)

I would think rapture is a perfectly fine word to use. Although it may not be found in the Bible, the action that it represents is certainly written about. Isn't the term "rapture " a translation thing anyway? One of the words that had no English counterparts when the Bible was translated? I'm pretty sure it describes the emotion that a Christian will feel when they are caught up, or taken away, to be with the Lord which is talked about in Thessalonians. 1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Also, if the 144,000 is taken literally, then it would be interpreted as 144,000 male virgins who are Israelites by birth. Not sure that describes many Jehovah Witnesses I've met so far. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've never met a virgin male Israelite ever, of any denomination, but anyway....Accordin g the KJV, these 144,000 who are sealed are not in Heaven either, they are on earth during the tribulation. It is the multitudes of every tongue, people and nation, a number to great to count, who are in Heaven, not on earth since it says they are before the throne of God. I think you've got it backwards, Would You Like To Know.  (Oct 25, 2011 | post #45)

"America must manage its decline."

‎"S audi Arabia will spend $43 billion on its poorer citizens and religious institutions. Kuwaitis are getting free food for a year. Civil servants in Algeria received a 34 percent pay rise. Desert cities in the United Arab Emirates may soon enjoy uninterrupted electricity. Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries members are poised to earn an unprecedented $1 trillion this year, according to the U.S. Energy Department, as the group¬ís benchmark oil measure exceeded $100 a barrel for the longest period ever. They are promising to plow record amounts into public and social programs after pro-democracy movements overthrew rulers in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya and spread to Yemen and Syria." C&P'd from Bloomberg, an article dated Sept 20, 2011. ... remember when life in America was so promising??  (Oct 25, 2011 | post #16)

I'm sorry, but this is not only taken out of context but also without regard to the culture of the time it was written. Just as Christian missionaries traveled from home to home in order to spread the message, (there were no Churches, these meetings were held in homes.), so did Gnostic teachers. 2 John was written to urge discernment in supporting traveling teachers, otherwise, someone might unintentionally contribute to the propagation of heresy rather than truth. To shelter these Gnostic teachers would appear to people as though the Christian household upheld the Gnostic teaching. This would be confusing to newly converted Christians. This warning only pertained to professed teachers. In other words, only let true Christian teachers into your homes to teach. This had nothing to do with relatives, friends etc who held different views and should not be construed in that light because that is false. Do you have any idea how many fallen Christians have been led back to Christ by the loving kindness, charity, and just plain doggedness of other Christians. If you turn your back on someone who has fallen away, if you shun them, and they die and go to hell, do you not think you own some kind of responsibility in that? What if it were something as simple as a kind word from you, a shared testimony, something only you could have said to someone that no one else had ever said to them that brought them back? Shunning, no matter what spin is thrown on it, is totally unacceptable behavior in any person claiming they represent God, no matter what denomination they are from.  (Oct 24, 2011 | post #42)

"America must manage its decline."

You are soooo right Jim. You know, I was talking to my kids pediatrician a couple of days ago. He travels extensively, been almost everywhere, and he said that even in countries that we consider allies, we are hated. Terribly hated. That they don't really care that American citizens have no control over what our government does, they hate all Americans on sight. We are despised. In their eyes we are every bit the terrorists that we pretend we are saving the world from. He also said that you see things on the news in these countries about stuff going on here that you will never see on the news in the United States. About the control of big biz in our government that forces our children to take vaccines that not only do they not need, but actually harm some children for life, purely for profit. And that one day, America will be the one who will need saving but that no one will come to our aide. I don't know......Hard to believe how far we have fallen. How beautiful the ideals our nation were founded on, only to come down to all this crap. Epic fail.  (Oct 21, 2011 | post #10)
