Why would they play there now? It's a vacant lot with nothing to do. When I was a kid, you would see a baseball game break out in that field once in a while. Today, the only baseball they're playing is on a video console. (Aug 25, 2010 | post #19)

I heard the Park and Rec advisory board ranked it as an alternate bond project rather than a priority. Of course, the City Council doesn't have to do what the advisory board suggests so it will probably be built any way. Since the bonds aren't being issued anytime soon, I don't see a skate park anytime soon, unless of course Council decides to proceed without the bond money. Bad move if they do that but you never know with that bunch. I also heard it might be built across from the Police station instead of beside the tennis courts. (Aug 23, 2010 | post #4)

Predictable response for someone who blamed Bush for everything that happened while he was in office - and everything else since Obama took office. (Jun 17, 2010 | post #59)
Off-shore oil is there for the taking but it does have its risks. Want to stop off-shore drilling? Park your car and leave it there forever until the weeds bury it. Who will go first? I'm sure everyone else who opposes off-shore drilling will follow your lead and we'll no longer need to drill off-shore. or any where else for that matter. (Jun 17, 2010 | post #58)
About 2 weeks ago. And where do you get your information? 8 new board members from the Optimist? There's only 8 members total and only 3 are new this year. (Jun 14, 2010 | post #37)
The Park and Rec Board recommended the River Park be built with the first issuance of the bonds. They also recommended soccer fields, baseball fields, and purchasing the land on Gaither Road. Oh yeah, and one PRACTICE football field that would also be used for youth soccer. (Jun 13, 2010 | post #27)
It's actually $450 plus partial utilities. I left off the 4 in my previous post. Good catch. (May 31, 2010 | post #12)
What's the Rotary got to do with it? This is a Park and Rec issue. The lease was and is $50/month. (May 31, 2010 | post #10)
