Wisconsin had 13 lucky players who each won $50,000 in Wednesday's Powerball drawing, including five in Dane County and one in Rock County. The winning numbers were 4, 8, 19, 27 and 34. The Powerball was 10 and the Power Play number was 2. Winning jackpot tickets were sold in California, Florida and Tennessee. Comment?

The likelihood of winning a lottery jackpot is less than dying in a plane crash, catching a flesh-eating bacteria or being duped by a corrupt lottery employee. The integrity of lottery games nationwide are in question amid an investigation into jackpot fixing that started in Iowa and has spread to at least four other states, Colorado, Wisconsin, Oklahoma and Kansas, according to The Associated Press. Lottery officials in Iowa say jackpots won in Colorado and Wisconsin are now part of a national lottery fraud investigation. The investigation centers around a former lottery vendor named Eddie Tipton who was recently sentenced to 10 years in prison for rigging a computerized Hot Lotto game in an attempt to win a $14 million jackpot in Iowa. 1 comment

According to a release from the Wisconsin Department of Revenue, the ticket was sold at Family Fresh Market at 300 South Main Street in River Falls. The winner matched five numbers, but did not match the Powerball. Comment?
