The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery's revenue increased in February over a year ago as the lottery sold more scratch-off and draw-game tickets despite a few ice and snow storms during the month. The lottery's revenue in February increased by $2.8 million from a year ago to $41.7 million and the amount raised for college scholarships increased by about $200,000 from a year ago to $6.1 million, according to its reports to the Legislature's lottery oversight committee. As with all good things, the two-month Powerball run that resulted in a $500 million jackpot came to an end Wednesday night, with three winning tickets sold in Texas, North Carolina, and Puerto Rico. Three Powerball prizes of $10,000 each were won in Arkansas, but the biggest winners were students receiving lottery-funded scholarships. Comment?

Tonight's Powerball Jackpot was $500 million making it the fifth largest lottery prize in U.S. History. Inside a convenience store at the bottom of Cantrell Hill in Little Rock on Wednesday, $500 million had wishful thinkers dreaming of what they would do with the money while they waited in long lines.
