It was a decidedly unfriendly, even very angry time almost 30 years ago in Westlake , population then about 200 on the northern Tarrant County/southern Denton County line. Ross Perot Jr.'s Hillwood Properties empire had bought the town's crown jewel, the pristine 2,000-acre Circle T Ranch, about four years earlier and wanted to move ahead with development plans. Big things are happening in Westlake. The affluent northeast Tarrant County community recently won a new 500,000-square-foot corporate campus for the Charles Schwab Corp. Now, Hillwood and the Howard Hughest Corp. have announced plans to develop a 130-acre mixed-use project around it. Comment?

Developer Hillwood will team up to turn part of the Perot family's Circle T Ranch north of Fort Worth into a 130-acre mixed-use development. Hillwood said Wednesday that it will build the $1 billion Westlake project in partnership with Howard Hughes Corp., which owns a section of the land. Comment?
