    A federal jury this week awarded $ 1 million to a fired technology manager of a now-defunct telemarketing company, finding he was unlawfully retaliated against by a former boss who published nearly 100,000 pages of derogatory articles about him on a website and public blog. Max Zweizig worked from his New Jersey home for West Linn-based Northwest Direct Teleservices Inc. from 2001 to 2003 as information technology director.

    A change-of-plea hearing has been scheduled for Edwin Lara, who police say killed a woman in July 2016 while working as a campus safety officer at Central Oregon Community College. Juli Walden VanCleave, the mother of victim Kaylee Sawyer, posted on Facebook that Lara agreed to a plea deal that would send him to prison for life, avoiding a possible death sentence.
