U.S. Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., has received more than $2 million in donations from companies that outsourced thousands of North Carolina jobs, including a dozen positions in Rocky Mount and Tarboro, according to an analysis of campaign finance reports. The companies shipped overseas a combined 4,285 jobs from North Carolina, including nine jobs from Rocky Mount and four jobs from Tarboro, while their Political Action Committees contributed $2.43 million to Burr since 2004, according to Federal Election Commission data assembled by Public Citizen, a nonprofit, nonpartisan political activist organization. Bill Young, co-owner of Arkham Comix in the Englewood Square shopping center, said the comic book store is taking donations up until Friday. Young put out a Facebook post asking customers to bring in three or more items, which are going to be taken to the United Way Tar River Region and local shelters to be distributed to people in need.
