Nurses and Nurse Managers from Westchester Medical Center today presented an honorary DAISY award to the staff and management of the Cinnabon franchise at the White Plains Galleria Mall in White Plains, NY. The DAISY award is presented to nurses in over 1900 hospitals worldwide throughout the year as a way to honor their skill, dedication, compassion and commitment to the patients and families they work so tirelessly to care for. One out of every 15 people in the Unites States suffers from sleep apnea, a breathing disorder characterized by the cessation of breathing or abnormally shallow breathing during periods of sleep. Twelve students who participate in the Port Chester Public Schools' After School program at the Carver Center received bicycles and helmets this week from volunteers who work at Pfizer Inc. The 12 students were selected randomly to receive the bicycles, which were assembled by employees of Pfizer as part of a corporate team-building event. The lucky students were Jennifer Farias, third-grade; Ruben Gudino, fourth-grade; Anyeli Morales, fourth- grade; Ian Orellana, third-grade; Samantha Pena, second-grade; Alexa Perez, second-grade; Michael Pulla, fourth-grade; Jennifer Reyes, fifth-grade; Denys Rivera, fourth-grade; Sean Salazar, fifth-grade; Kimberly Ullaguari, second-grade; and Axel Villed, third-grade.
