The National Trust for Historic Preservation released the 2016 list to "raise awareness about the threats facing some of the nation's greatest treasures," according to its website. The Naval hospital district, where as many as 4,000 wounded soldiers a month were treated during World War II, is one of three National Register Districts on the former Charleston Navy Base, the National Trust said.
