New York City defines a micro unit as an apartment that measures between 250 and 370 square feet -though there are plenty of units way smaller than that -so why, exactly, is a developer in Long Island City trying to pass off apartments that measure 490 to 735 square feet as micro units? The 57 apartments in question are located in a new building under construction at 37-10 Crescent Street , and the Journal says that they are "being billed as micro units, but with a twist." The "twist" is that they are two- and three-bedroom units, and very much not micro units . Comment?

Median Manhattan sales prices have reached a new high just shy of $1 million since the recession, and median rent in the borough is expected to follow suit and reach $3,092 in 2015. While FreshDirect is moving its headquarters to the South Bronx, the online grocer is also leasing some space in Brooklyn - taking 20,000 square feet at 630 Flushing Avenue, on the border of Williamsburg and Bedford-Stuyvesant. The 575,000-square-foot industrial building, owned by Long Island City-based Acumen Capital Partners, takes up an entire eight-acre block between Marcy and Tompkins avenues. Comment?

From Curbed : The New York Post reports that the MTA is seeking to revamp a section of disused railroad tracks in Long Island City, and has asking for community input on a park that could look somewhat similar to the High Line. An MTA spokesman confirmed that the agency has released a Request For Expressions of Interest for the area as it explores all the options of what to do with this parcel of land. Comment?
