A former Catholic school building in Detroit could be transformed into a mixed-income apartment building, if city and Archdiocese officials find the developer they're looking for. The city is partnering with the Archdiocese of Detroit to court proposals for the redevelopment the vacant 21,500-square-foot Transfiguration School at 13330 Syracuse St. The project is expected to cost between $4 million and $5 million and would see 15 to 25 apartment units built into the Archdiocese-owned building, 20 percent of which will be considered affordable units.
