Webster County will increase the amount it pays funeral homes for poor residents who can't afford their own last expenses. The county doesn't pay for burials or funeral services, only cremations, and that rate hasn't gone up for several years, said Ken Hays, Webster County Community Services administrator, during the regular Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday morning. Motorcycles are popular in Fort Dodge and Webster County. That local passion for bikes was a major reason Mike Donahe and his son, Terri Donahe, launched Strange Addiction Garage and & Customs earlier this summer at 1800 Fifth Ave. S. A lengthy application was submitted a year ago to a new community competition by staffers from the city government and the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance, who were hoping to secure some money for a neighborhood planning process. Fort Dodge was named one of 50 quaterfinalists in the competition called America's Best Communities. Comment?

More than 2,000 Fort Dodge residents are looking to take back their community and find ways to make the city a safer place. Following two shootings on Sunday and Monday, a closed Facebook group was created and already had 2,200 members by Tuesday night. Comment?
