Just over $37,000 in money, loans and nonmonetary contributions have flowed into the coffers of the two candidates seeking to replace Linda Seifert on the Solano County Board of Supervisors. According to financial data released by the Solano County Registrar of Voters, former Benicia City Councilman Mike Ioakimedes raised about $23,250 from Jan. 1 through June 30. Notable contributions include $2,000 from Dana Dean, president of the Solano County Board of Education, along with $2,000 from Republic Services, Inc. The same amount came from the Firefighters Local 1186 Political Action Committee, and $500 came from Kathy Hoffman, former aide to Congressman George Miller's office, according to the same financial records. Pharmaceutical supplier Lonza of Switzerland says it is buying InterHealth Nutraceuticals , Inc., a California-based company that makes ingredients for use in dietary supplements, in a deal worth up to $300 million. InterHealth, a portfolio company of Kainos Capital, is based in Benicia, California. Comment?
