    Willits basketball: JV girls end season on win streak

    A week after winning their first league game, the Willits Wolverines jayvee girls basketball team did it one more time, a 43-39 victory over Middletown to close out their season. Willits trailed throughout much of the first half, but 3-point goals by Caitlyn Forrester, Morgan Riley and Jamie Johnstone in the second quarter put the Wolverines down by just six points.

    Willits Basketball: Varsity boys in 2nd place tie

    Duane Nelson knew that Tuesday night's game in Kelseyville was going to be tough. A win for the Knights would put them in a tie with Willits for second place in the North Central League I boys' basketball standings with one game left for each team.

    Ma town closes with OT loss to Willits

    Bitter because a game the Mustangs had every right to believe they had won against Willits slipped away in overtime, ending in a 51-44 Wolverine victory. It also means the Mustangs won't advance to the postseason for the first time in head coach G.J. Rockwell's four seasons at the helm of the Middletown program.

    Ma town girls clinch, Lower Lake boys win in OT

    LOWER LAKE >> A North Central League I championship is what the Middletown Mustangs won on Tuesday night with a 73-40 victory over the Lower Lake Trojans, but it's not the final destination for coach Anthony Bazzano's squad. If Bazzano gets his way, Middletown's season will include a playoff win or two or three in the North Coast Section Division IV tournament before the Mustangs turn the page on the 2014-15 campaign.

    Knights play tough down stretch, beat Willits

    But they emerged from those 34 seconds with what may be remembered as the greatest game of coach Scott Conrad's career at Kelseyville. The Knights' tensely fought 64-60 win over Willits gave them a tie with the Wolverines for second place in the North Central League I boys' basketball standings.
