    Recess football begat Tri-City Chargers football, which begat St. Francis football, which begat Saturday's Class 6A state semifinal at Nazareth. OK, so maybe the path hasn't been that seamless for a quintet of Spartans seniors from St. Patrick Catholic School in St. Charles.

    Saints dominant in season-opening win

    SCHAUMBURG – If opening night is any indication, St. Charles East girls basketball coach Lori Drumtra may have a hit on her hands. The Saints cruised to a 35-point victory against Wheaton Warrenville South on Tuesday night in the first game of the Schaumburg Thanksgiving Tournament.

    Molly Haggerty's match-high 16 kills against Breese Mater Dei helped the St. Francis girls volleyball team win in three sets and advance to Saturday's 3A state championship match against Joliet Catholic.
