    Hoquiam and King's Way Christian brought their fighting spirits to go with their perimeter and inside offense on Friday night. In the end, the Grizzlies took the Kinghts' best shot and secured their first District IV 1A boys basketball championship since 2004 in the process.

    Girls basketball: King's Way Christian 49, Tenino 45...

    Mackenzie Ellertson and Hannah Moats combined to score all but two of their team's points as the Knights stayed alive in the 1A District 4 tournament. Moats had a three-point play to put King's Way ahead 44-41 with 2:50 left in overtime.

    Kinga s Way one game away from its goal

    Officially, Monday night's King's Way Christian-Forks 1A Southwest District IV boys basketball semifinal was listed as a neutral-site game on King's Way's floor. Except this one was a little extra something special for eight of the 12-player roster in the team's final "home" game, celebrating a 67-59 victory over the Spartans to clinch not only a 1A regional berth, but also a second consecutive spot in the district championship game.

    Wrestling roundup: Trio lead Union to runner-up fini...

    Led by regional champions Ethan Rotondo, JJ Talavera and Tommy Strassenberg, the Union boys wrestling team placed second in the Class 4A Region 4 meet in Hanford on Saturday. Mead of Spokane took the team title with 301.5 points, easily outpacing the Titans' 223.5. Camas placed fifth at 155.

    Resilient Camas boys basketball team rolls past Skyv...

    This postseason, the members of the Camas boys basketball team have had their backs against the wall and flat on the floor. Camas led from start to finish, but had to fend off a late charge from the Storm to beat Skyview 54-48 in a loser-out game Saturday in the 4A bi-district tournament at Columbia River High School.

    Boys basketball: Evergreen 98, Bonney Lake 72

    Dwight Jones scored 33 points and John Hansberry had 26 points as the Plainsmen stayed alive in the 3A bi-district tournament with the win over Bonney Lake at North Thurston High School. The 98 points scored by Evergreen was the most in a game this season by the Plainsmen, who move on to another loser-out game at 6 p.m. Monday at North Thurston.

    In the three years Jordan Berni has been away from organized basketball, a sport he never considered his first love and admitted never took too seriously in the past, he fell off the ladder of his athletic success after climbing to the top step. Three years ago, he signed a letter of intent to play football at NCAA Division II Western Oregon after quarterbacking Skyview, then went 1,700 miles east to a national junior college football power only to return to Vancouver searching for answers.

    Boys basketball: Kelso 61, Mountain View 57

    Mountain View bounced back from a 21-point loss to Hudson's Bay to take Kelso down to the wire. The Thunder were tied with Kelso with two minutes to go.
