    Will Matthiessen threw a complete game five-hitter and Brayden Pene homered for the second straight game as West Linn defeated state favorite Tualatin, 5-2, at home on Friday. West Linn, which lost the series opener 3-0, followed Wednesday's bounce-back win over the Timberwolves by taking the rubber game in the series the hard way: by defeating senior All-State pitcher Jacob Bennett.

    Hawks work extra to beat Taft

    It also was a game that the Horizon Christian High School baseball team really needed win in order to help keep their West Valley League title hopes alive. Horizon Christian, getting clutch pitching and defense, and some late timely hitting, scored a crucial 3-2, eight-inning win over Taft in a key West Valley League game played last Thursday at Horizon Christian High School.

    Area seniors make their choices official

    Six area seniors, four girls from Tualatin High School and two from Sherwood High School, signed their national letters of intent on April 15 during ceremonies held at their respective schools. At Tualatin, two seniors on the Timberwolf softball team, which, as of Tuesday, was undefeated on the 2015 season, signed their letters of intent.

    Horizon, Westside track teams step up at invitational

    The Horizon Christian and Westside Christian track and field teams turned in some strong performances, against a big field of schools, when they competed at the King's Invitational, held at King's High School in Shoreline, Wash. The Horizon Christian girls took fifth place in the team standings at the 21-school event with a score of 48.5 points.

    Wolves keep rolling at Sherwood

    They go out, play hard from first inning to last, and they take care of business - just like they did Monday at Sherwood. That gave both teams at least some reason to smile following the Timberwolves' 18-2 victory over Sherwood in a Three Rivers League game played Monday at Sherwood High School.

    Timberwolf girls get win against Newberg

    The Tualatin High School girls track and field team showed off its depth as it notched an impressive league win. The Timberwolves, garnering first-place finishes in 11 events, ran to an 86-59 victory over Newberg in a Three Rivers League dual meet held April 15 at Tualatin High School.

    Tualatin's top-ranked softball team absorbed a blow Tuesday when its leading hitter, junior center fielder Caitlyn Sung, suffered a dislocated shoulder in practice. Fortunately for the Timberwolves, there's nothing wrong with the right arm of senior pitcher Emily Sorem.

    Senior Emily Sorem threw a no-hitter with 17 strikeouts to lift Tualatin to a 1-0 win over visiting Tigard in a Three Rivers League softball game Wednesday. The win moves the top-ranked Timberwolves into first place, one game ahead of the Tigers .

    Tualatin picks up two more victories

    The Timberwolves stayed perfect on the season, moving to 9-0, by scoring a 3-2 win at Westview last Thursday and following that up with a 3-1 home win over Oregon City on Friday in non-league play. In the win at Westview, the Wolves took a quick 1-0 lead when junior Caitlyn Sung scored on a double by freshman Taylor Alton in the top of the first inning.

    By the time it ended, 186 hours and 5 minutes after it started, the Tualatin High School girls tennis team got to celebrate an exciting victory. The Timberwolves, in a match that started and was suspended by rain on April 6, and then concluded on Tuesday, came away with a 5-3 win over Tigard in a Three Rivers League match played at Tualatin.
