    Falconer James Androtte and his red tail hawk Mary were scaring away pigeons and seagulls from the Beach House Hotel on the Hermosa Beach Strand Monday morning. Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach/Los Angeles firefighters gathered with volunteers Saturday at the Manhattan Civic Center to launch the 26th Annual Beach Cities Toy Drive.

    REDONDO BEACH Playing short-handed without Oregon State commit guard Gianni Hunt and then losing forward Nick Schrader in the late first half Bishop Montgomery battled LA City Section powerhouse Fairfax all night, Saturday in the Ryse Williams Pac Shores Tournament. In the end it was too much to overcome as Fairfax senior and UNLV-commit Ethan Anderson scored 27 points and grabbed six rebounds to help the Lions to the 64-56 victory over the Knights.
