    Jaquish reaches rare 1,000-1,000 club

    The most bitter of rivals in the North Country came together on the lanes and court last week, with the schools splitting a quartet of events. The Moriah Vikings and Ticonderoga Sentinels renewed their rivalry with a week of contests, starting Monday, Jan. 25, with bowling at the VFW Lanes in Mineville, followed by the lady Sentinel and lady Viking basketball teams playing in Ticonderoga Thursday, Jan. 28. The boys teams finished the week with a matchup in Moriah Friday, Jan. 29. On a night reserved for celebrating a 1,000th rebound in the career of Moriah Center Adam Jaquish, the Sentinels would not go down without a fight, cutting a 20 point lead to nine before eventually falling to the top ranked Class D team in the state, 63-47.

    Ticonderoga, AVCS victorious in bowling action

    McDonald had a 253 high game as part of a 660 triple, while Noah Martineau added a 612 series, Tyler Atkins a 628 series and Tyler Light a 610 series. Jacob Gibeau rolled a 566 series with 208 high game for the Vikings, while Toot Whalen added a 207 high game as part of a 528 series.

    BCS Ladies score pair of wins on court

    The Lady Knights' defense started each half strong, holding the Lady Panthers to just two points in each stanza to score a win Jan. 22. Nicole Bullock led a balanced Knights offensive attack with 12 points, who played without center Gretchen Zalis.

    Vikings continue unblemished trek through CVAC

    Taylor Slattery scored 25 points to lead the Vikings, while Adam Jaquish added 15, Jarrod MacDougal 9, Noah Gilbo 7, Todd Clarke 6, Dylan Trombley 4, Chuck Bryant 4, Kyle Wilson 2, Joe Stahl 2 and Todd Gregory 2. Mitch Senecal had 11 points for the Hornets, with Dan Piper adding 9, Deantee Branham-Pizzaro 7, Andrew Cutaiar 5, Jacob LaBounty 4, Stephen Bedard 3 and Alex Follmer 2. Austin Myers scored 14 points in the victory, while Tyler Blair also scored 14, Zach Fauss 10, Brian Menia 7, Nick Mather 6, Isaiah Desserault 4, Tyler Biasi 3, Griffin Williams 2 and Rory Patterson 2.     Bomber score win over Wells boys basketball

    Melik McLeaod connected on five three pointers and scored 27 points as the Cougars defeated the Red Storm Jan. 15. Rylee Hollister added 16 points in the win, while ZAvion Beasley and Nick Duffy scored 7, Devin McManus scored 5 and Jacob Mossey 2. Menkel had 13 points in the win, while Cody Valenze scored 6, Mike Morelli 5, Logan Brown 4 and Jarell Paul 3. LAKE PLACID - Max Menkel's offensive rebound in the final minute of play gave the Blue Bombers a three-point play, turning the game around and giving the host team a victory over the Beavers Jan. 14. Menkel recorded the rebound on a Stuart Baird free throw with the team trailing 45-44.
