June 1 showers wash out most athletic events

April showers may bring May flowers, but it was June showers that brought to a halt many Midcoast high school athletic events for Monday, June 1. Many high school games and/or matches were postponed due to rain, including the Oceanside baseball and softball affairs at Medomak Valley, the Erskine Academy girls lacrosse match at Oceanside, the Belfast baseball and softball games at Lincoln Academy and Searsport baseball and softball doubleheaders at Stearns of Millinocket. The Panthers and Mariners will hit the diamonds on Tuesday, June 2 at 4 p.m. in Waldoboro, while the Mariner girls lacrosse team will host the Eagles, also at 4 p.m., that same day on Sam Pendleton Field in Thomaston.
