In Region 1-A, Sharpsville beat West Middlesex, 37-6, on Homecoming at McCracken Field; Farrell defeated Wilmington, 37-6, and Lakeview edged Reynolds, 30-29. In 3-AA, Greenville stayed unbeaten with a 35-7 win over Corry; Grove City earned its 1st win of the season with a 34-6 decision over Titusville, and Sharon made the long trip to Warren and came away with a 42-7 victory. Try as they might, Warren was unable to slow down the high-powered Sharon Tigers Friday at War Memorial Field. Zyion Strickland scored on receptions of 50 and 35 yards and also returned an interception 55 yards for a score in a 42-7 Region 3 win for the visitors. Comment?

The phrase has both literal and figurative meaning this week as the calendar turns from September to October and local high school football teams look to turn their seasons around after a combined 2-14 start. Fans willing to brave the cooler fall temperatures will be treated to a trio of home games this week as Sharon makes the long trip to Warren, Saegertown visits Eisenhower, and Smethport heads up Wolverine Mountain to take on Sheffield. "I can make a good case for the expansion and staying at four classes," Iacino said at the meeting. "Philosophically, you can make the case it's what's best for the students, but at the same time it may not be what's best for District 10." It appears District 10 chairman Pete Iacino will vote for the PIAA to expand from four to six classes in football next week. After a lengthy discussion of the pros and cons and what the effect will be on D-10 with six football classes, Iacino took an unofficial straw poll at the latest D-10 meeting Wednesday at The Country Club at Meadville. Coach Ed Roberson" s West Middlesex Big Reds pulled the upset of the night as they defeated previously-unbeaten Wilmington, 24-7, in a Region 1-A clash on Homecoming in West Middlesex. Also Friday, Franklin beat Reynolds, 41-30, and Brookfield moved to 4-1 with a 65-14 win at Newton Falls in an All-American Conference Blue Tier Division matchup. Comment?
