Lady Dragons fall to Analy in SCL opener, await NCS bid

After splitting their Sonoma County League regular-season series and finishing the campaign in a second-place tie, the Sonoma Valley High School varsity softball girls battled Analy for the third time in Wednesday's opening round of the annual postseason SCL Tournament held at champion top-seed Petaluma. Trailing 2-0, the third-seed Lady Dragons knotted the score in the top of the third, but second-seed Analy, which earned the seeding tiebreaker, took a one-run lead in the bottom of the fourth, and then tallied three more runs in the fifth en route to a 6-2 win.

Sonoma boys splendidly swim to SCL title

In dramatic fashion, the Sonoma Valley High School varsity boy swimmers battled defending Sonoma County League champion Analy down to the final event of Friday's SCL championship meet at the Petaluma Swim Center before finally putting an end to a long title drought. After going unbeaten in all five dual meets, the young Dragon boys - with one lone senior, Rick Taggesell, on the squad - turned in an impressive team effort in edging Analy in the meet finale, the 400-yard freestyle relay, which earned them both a 387-373 triumph and the elusive SCL title.
