    The King's Knights lost to the Klahowya Eagles in the championship game of the 1A State Girls Soccer Tournament. A first-half goal in the 13th minute by Klahowya midfielder Izzy Severns - off a through-ball from defender Rachel Seidel - was the only score of the game.

    King's to play for 1A girls state soccer title

    The King's Knights avenged their state-tournament loss from a season ago by defeating University Prep 1-0 Friday in a Class 1A state girls soccer semifinal at Shoreline Stadium. Last year, the Pumas beat the Knights 3-2 in the 1A championship game to earn their second straight state title.

    Bishop Blanchet soccer coach passes away

    Chris Connors, a longtime soccer coach and teacher at Bishop Blanchet, passed away Monday after a battle with stomach cancer. Connors was 41. Connors started at Bishop Blanchet in 2000 as an assistant with the boys soccer team and a teacher, and took over as head coach in 2003.

    In a hotly contested 3A girls swim and dive state tournament held at the King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way on Saturday, the Mercer Island girls swim and dive team were unseated from their perennial top berth by a powerful team from Lakeside. As five-time defending state champions, the Islander girls were able to place swimmers on the podium in nearly every event, but were unable to match the depth of the Lakeside team, scoring 279 points to take second place behind Lakeside's 333 points.
