    Upper Lake girls beat RUP, Lady Knights clinch share...

    The Upper Lake Cougars beat Roseland University Prep 54-43 on Tuesday night in North Central League II varsity girls basketball action, running their overall record to 15-11 while finishing up 7-5 in league play. Will that be good enough to get Upper Lake into the North Coast Section Division V playoffs next week as an at-large team? Stay tuned.

    Cougar wrestlers drop Montgomery

Jane Peleti Only six of the 14 wrestling matches during Rancho Cotate High School's Feb. 1 dual match against Santa Rosa's Montgomery High were settled on the mat, as the other bouts were either forfeits or double forfeits. The Cougars won all of the contested matches, including four by pin and one by a technical fall, as they defeated the Vikings 44-18 in a North Bay League contest in Rohnert Park.

    Rancho senior girls leave in grand style

    Rancho Cotate High girls basketball seniors Julia Guerrero, Reilani Peleti and Grizzle Enriquez are surrounded by their families after being honored before their last home game of the season on Tuesday, Feb. 7. Rancho Cotate defeated Casa Grande of Petaluma 59-34. Jane Peleti The Rancho Cotate High girls' basketball team made sure seniors Reilani Peleti, Julia Guerrero and Grizzle Enriquez were winners in the final home game of their careers as the Cougars thumped Casa Grande of Petaluma 59-34 on Tuesday, Feb. 7. After a tight first quarter that saw the Cougars jump to a 9-7 lead, Rancho Cotate exploded in the second quarter, outscoring the Gauchos 22-5 to take a 31-12 lead at halftime.

    Rancho girls drop two NBL contests

    A sluggish first quarter proved the downfall for the Rancho Cotate High School girls' basketball team against Windsor on Jan. 30. The Jaguars bolted to a 15-4 lead and never looked back as they defeated the Cougars 55-49 in a North Bay League game in Rohnert Park. The Cougars fell to 2-8 in the NBL and 10-11 overall.

    Dragon boys win nail-biter

    Sonoma's Dominic Tommasi hit a huge three-pointer from the corner with less than a minute to play in Friday night's Sonoma-Elsie Allen game. The shot broke a 50-50 tie as the Dragons went on to win a nail-biter, 57-54.
